The belt doesn't run through any oil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use Shell Rotella T 15w-40 diesel oil as I have done on all of my bikes and scooters.

AGAIN this thread is over 11 years old. Let it die.

There is so much wrong information in it and it should not have been dug up from the deep past.

Aw c'mon Dave.

What better time of year is there for a zombie thread?:devil

I have a 2013 650 and since my 600 mile service that the dealer performed I use Motul. Mosul told me the recommended oil for my specific model bike, and been having great results so far. the best advantage is I cut the wining of gears by 75% and performance is great. I'm also sure I'm providing the best protection for my bike specially in the high heat and congested traffic I navigate in South Florida but it will also be ready to deal with cold weather as well.
After the 600 mile service I do my own maintenance and I use K&N oil filter and Change all fluids since the cost is very little on the amount it uses. Below is the oil that Motul recommended for my Burgman 650. Use same oil in engine and transmission, sometimes they are known to mix so its recommended from Suzuki to use same oil.

OIL: 10W40 (API:SG JASO:MA)
USE: MOTUL 7100 4T 10W40 OR you can use SCOOTER POWER 4T 5W40 both oils are 100% synthetic.
OIL FILTER: K&N KN-138 & KN-138-C
FINAL GEAR: SAE90 HYPOID API:GL5
USE: Motul Gear box 80w90 Hypoid semi-synthetic

These are one of the best oil designed for bikes, You can use any motorcycle oil you like but I get my best deals on the Internet (eBay, Amazon usually) I pay around $11.00 to $12.00 per litter for Motul 7100 oil. the final gear I don't remember how much I paid but got it on eBay and bike uses such small amount that one litter lasts for several changes. The most expensive is the engine oil and rather have good quality bike oil and get best protection and avoids repairs later if possible, enjoy quieter ride and better performance now. You can always tell how good your protection is by how many fillings you find on the magnetic bolt at oil change if there is an excessive amount of filings then you have excess wear on your parts and need to change or face repairs before its time.
