Top speed/rpm's

Postby tomfelock » Tue Jun 26, 2012 5:23 05

I have about 5,603 miles on my 2009 400. Will My engine loosen up and and put out more rpm's as it continues to get broken in or is it about at its max already?

Mine as 11000+ on the clock and seems livelier than it did at 5000 but I have never maxed it out on top speed,
I do open the throttle hard on acceleration but have never kept it there, would miss my licence to much.

I have had 3 or 4 other Suzy's not scooters and they have seemed to get better and better even up to 20,000 miles,
the Burgman did feel quite tight when new, they will only rev to just over 9000 no matter what as the limiter cuts in.

Tom, I too think it will continue to improve. By how much it's difficult to say. All the major engine conforming has taken place by now but there is still some to do. But at about 10k it should be pretty much be set for the rest of it's life.

I checked my mpg at my last fill up and it was getting 70 mpg just running around on short rides. 70 mpg and less than $3 a gallon is a lot nicer than paying $5 a gallon.

93.5 actual MPH per a GPS is the practical top speed on my '03, it would go a bit faster however it would be "pedal-to-the-metal" and wait for it. The engine spins 8500 rpm at 93.5 with 18g DP sliders and the other variator mods I have made...
