USB port for Cigarette lighter

Postby Renegade1978 » Sun May 27, 2012 6:59 06

I found this recently. It is a "flush mount" USB port that plugs into a cigarette lighter plug. This one would be particularly useful since our Burgmans have a very strange place for the lighter plug. Hope it helps. I'll probably order one.

Found a similar one a Walgreens (near the checkout counter) for $5. Problem is that most USB cables stick out of the plug by almost 2 inches before the cable can be bent and you still can't shut the door. You need a right angle USB cable.

I have one of those mini adapters but try to get a 2000mah, 2 amp version (the normal are 1000mah, 1 amp) as you may find some devices will not charge correctly due to their current requirements, ie a sat nav. I also have the 90° usb male to female cable extender. The door now shuts okay with this set-up.
