I ordered an E55 Monokey top case when I bought my new Burgman 650.. sorry Kiwi Dave.. I didn't know about the preferential treatment available to Burgman owners then & the dealer threw in the top case as part of the deal.
I had it installed a few days ago... When the shop guys rolled it out, they handed me the remote.. I hit it, and it worked.. That was the last time it worked.

I got on my bike, rode it home & the remote didn't work? I called Givi USA and they told me to try to re-program it.. by pushing the button inside.. but they were vague about how to re set it. When I push the button on the remote, the little red light goes off.. so it is working.. There is no sound from the top box of a servo motor or anything going on.. so, I am asking my question here.. What should I do to get this fixed? return the case? (Not desirable and I have been waiting for it)... Oddly there is no mention of the remote in the owners manual.. I can't find anything on line at the Givi site either..
Ideas gladly accepted..
Thanks

I have determined that probably there is no power going to the box panel.. On the harness there is an in line fuse... I suspect it's blown.. I am going to be adding a Brakeaway throttle control & when I bring it in for that, I will have them take the top box apart & do it all over.. They kept blowing fuses when they put it on.. and were cursing Italian wiring.. there is a warranty and my dealer did the work so I have an avenue for correction..

I had it back to the dealer today.. They took it all apart, then took the remote apart and put it back together again.. and it worked.. I picked it up today, and it worked three or four times.. Rode it home and now it doesn't work again... what a piece of crap ! for what they charge.. I expect things to work & not to be a hassle..

I have isolated the problem.. It's the power connection between the mounting plate & the box...
When I take the box off.. then re-seat it.. the remote works (power is getting there).. after I ride for any length of time.. it no longer works.. until I take the box off & re-seat it.. weird..

Burgermeister I looked at that thread & thought that may be it.. No such luck.. I had a call with Mark at Givi USA late yesterday.. This remote not working isn't a huge deal.. but irritating.. The repeatable issue is this... When I take the box off the mounting plate & then re-seat it.. the remote works.. When I start my scoot.. it stops working... It did that when I was on the phone with Mark yesterday.. three times.. and then I heard the words I didn't want to hear... "Gee that's wierd.. Hmmm.. never heard of that problem before..."... Mark is now casting about.. He thinks maybe there is a build up of power & it shuts off & when taken off & re-seated.. it resets.. He wonders if the unit should be grounded to the frame instead of the battery.. The instructions say it should be ground to the battery... but any port in a storm.. He then told me I should remove all of the tail tupperware & ground it there to a speed clip located there.. So, maybe one day I will ask my dealer to do this...right now I don't have the guts.. they have about 12 hours into this thing now and their flat rate for the install was overwhelmed a long time ago..
