I installed the Clearview medium on my '11 650 Executive this morning. I had read the horror stories of mismatched bolts and nuts. None of that for me. It went on just fine. The OEM windshield was "adequate" for me but not great. The extra two inches all around does make a difference, particularly for my wife riding as passenger. Above 50 mph or so she still needs the full-face helmet but she appreciates the relief around town. At the lowest position I can see comfortably over it, at the highest I look through it. I prefer looking over most of the time but now and then it's nice to sit in that bubble. I'm still messing around with the vent. How do you guys use the vent?

Honestly, I could not tell that the vent made much difference except on a hot day by directing air up towards my chin. I decided to skip the vent on my order for a new windshield for my 2011. The vent only costs about $30 if I want to install it later (I've installed one on an OEM w/s).

That is an advantage of the Exec with the vent. On hot days I open the vent wide and then I can adjust the airflow with the up and down window adjustment to hit me just right.. oooooooh so goooood

I have the XXL on my 650 with the vent. I find the vent useful for two reasons: 1) It creates some air flow for the big shield that I have, resulting in less wind buffeting on the shield itself. Previous posts have told stories about strong winds snapping their shields. 2) On moderate to hot days, it provides some "air conditioning" directed at my face. With the taller shield, I don't always use my helment's face shield. Could I have survived without it? Sure, but it's a nice thing to have in certain situations. Hope you enjoy your new shield as much and I have mine. Tim

What is your size? I can not decide between medium, large or XL. I am 5'8". Thanks,

Your proportions are as important as your height. Are you long legged and short waisted or short legged and long waisted or somewhere in between. That will make a difference in the shield you get. I'm 5'11" with long legs (33" inseam) so I got a large. I can't see over an XL. The difference between my height and my inseam is 38". Calculate the difference in yours and you can use that as a guide.

I am 5'11". In WA State I would have chosen a Large so that I could look over the shield. Here in FL, because it rains so little, the roads tend to "ice" up. So now I just ride in decent weather. What I like about the larger size is that it makes the ride so quite-no wind buffeting around the helmet. Tim

IMHO, anything more than a medium would be too tall for you. I just installed a medium Clearview shield on my 2011 650. I'm 5'8" tall and 28" inseam. It's a little to tall for my taste. The top ends up right in my line of sight too often. I'm considering taking and inch or a bit more off of the top. When raised, I would easily have enough protection.
