Postby Kiwi Dave » Wed Apr 20, 2011 19:01 19

The long awaited E55NLUX trunk is available NOW ... The LUX comes complete with a remote opening feature (as well as your standard key lock) built-in dual LED
brake lights. $465.00 msrp. E113S is also available as an optional extra. $99.00 msrp. Other extras include painted lid, inner liner, and backrest pad.

The msrp price is not the price BUSA members will pay  I still have to work out the discounts.

Sorry the picture is not great, scanned it from the PDF document Givi just released. If you are interested email me and I will send you the PDF File. If you do, don't forget to place my email address in your email contact list or my return mail may end up in your spam mail  kiwidave2009-sideracks@yahooxtra.co.nz

It figures, I buy one 2 months ago and they come out with something newer. Oh well, I am happy with mine.

I am with you fuzzyquilter. I am a little more p.o'd because i skipped on the coocase which had the remote for the givi.
Now 6 wks later, givi comes out with the remote. They should upgrade us for a small fee.

As most of you will know that Givi had problems with the original auto opener. Apparently this new case fixes those problems.
The 2011 E55NLUXA is a different part as they had to revamp the remote system.
However I will check with Givi to see if the new remote system can be fitted to older model cases.

The case was launched on the market in the US on the 20th of April; unfortunately I had no prior warning of this. I also note that other outlets are not advertising them yet.

I am going to call Givi. I am getting more p.o'd every minute i think about it.
They should have listed the the older model as clearance. That way the public would have known
there was a new model coming out. Sneaky companies like this get my nickers in a uproar.
Damn, i really wanted the remote. It goes to show you, always go with your first instinct.
That instinct was coosase astra48 w/remote and liner for $50 less than givi. Unfortunately, i let the Busa hype get to me.
Bill's glowing review of the E55 sent me to the givi side. My comments are in NO WAY a
reflection on Bill or Kiwi Dave. I have the utmost respect for both of them. My frustration is strictly givi related.
The italians could care less what the Americans think, after all we are probably a small market purchaser of their products.
Another lesson learned. :x

FWITW, I called GIVI USA. I was told that they didn't even know about the new case, until they received them. The gentleman also told me the small gap was normal. He said we could order the new lock for $99. For the luxury of just remotely opening the case, I will stick with what I have.
So there is an answer, not what we were looking for. I asked about a discount, and that wasn't possible through them, however, they said your dealer might discount it. I laughed and informed him that the gentlemen who helped me in Florida were actually from Italy. So much for my dealer...

OK, the 2011 E55NLUXA is an addition to the E55 range, it’s not a replacement.

According to Givi the new auto opening system E113S can be fitted to other models of the E55, I am waiting for a reply from Givi USA on more information about the total cost of this and what it involves.

At the moment the only difference in the E55 cases, that I can determine, is in the amount of extras one wants’ to be included as a standard features.

I asked about a discount, and that wasn't possible through them, however, they said your dealer might discount it. I laughed and informed him that the gentlemen who helped me in Florida were actually from Italy. So much for my dealer...

Good discounts for you are available from me Fay and as far as the person who you contacted at Givi, it would appear that his or her the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. The LUXA is in stock, it is priced at discounted rates on my web pages and I have supplied one to a customer.

I may have not made myself clear. He was talking about just the upgrade of the lock. He said the remote lock was that price.

No problems Fay. Givi USA has done some restructuring over the last year or so and Craig (former contact inside Givi for BUSA members) is no longer there. Craig was very good to BUSA members. Craig and I spoke of the Givi changes and due to my connection with the production of case carriers and references from other companies he set me up with a Givi online distribution outlet, unfortunately it is for the US only. However I do get to deal with the boss  I spoke to him about your call; the The E55LUXA nor the E113S is listed on the Givi parts catalogue yet, so in short, you could well have received the answer you got. I cannot say any more than that  LUXA (A, meaning made for the American market, so he tells me.)

I do my up most to provide the best price and best service on delivery that I can for all the 1262 Givi USA products. I do not profess to know every thing about all the Givi products, but, if asked, I will do my damnest to find the correct answer.

I had the E55NLUX on my Little Silver, the box was great it would hold 2 full face helmets, gloves, a light jacket, and even the wife’s purse all at one time. My only problem was every time you closed the box you would need to push or pull on the box to get the Left side brake lights, and remote to operate. I would remove the box and clean the contacts and that would help for a day or so then it would start again. Other than that it was a great box, if I had it to do again I would not have spent the extra money on the remote as the operation of it is too sporadic.

If it was mine I would take it to my local M/V panel and body shop. They have the products an know how that I am sure that they could fix it with out any problems and it will probably cost you less that having to buy product that you may only use a fraction of.

Since top of mind - two questions....

Had the MonoKey 50 on my 2005 650 Silver and liked the look. E52 I think.

Have a MonoLock of similar size on the 2009 White Exec and think it's butt ugly ....looks tacked on.

Questions.

Can I just buy a Monokey and mount it on the same mount as the Monolock??

How can I colour match the MonoKey if I choose to
( tho I think the Silver may look okay anyway.

TIA

It appears from the website the racks are different but want to be certain thanks.

You can't mount a Monokey on a Monolock and vice versa. Different attachments, not interchangeable.

You can however buy a different base plate for the Monokey and mount it on the existing hardware. Although the Monokey and Monolock base plates are different, either one can be mounted to any fitment kit as the mounting holes are the same.
