Riderscan

Postby Gio » Sun Sep 18, 2011 16:39 16

Looks like this idea may be a good one especially when riding in cities. Often you can find you need eyes in the back of your head to keep track of other riders and drivers as they all juggle for space. The same applies on motorways when an over the shoulder 'lifesaver' look may mean you miss the car in front and in the slow lane pulling out into your path because you are in his blind spot !

Couldn't see details of price on the website. I'll contact them and get some details.

One thing I would like to have seen is mounts that could be fitted/ swapped to various screens. Mind you if the price is reasonable I can always get one for each screen.

I'll post any details that I get. Also I'll try and get a discount for people mentioning either BurgmanUSA or Silverwing600 forums.

Cheers,

This video shows how far off the screen the Riderscan sits so no problem with blocking vented air.

Just spoken to the inventor. £36.00 + postage is an introductory price so probably no additional discount. None in stock at the moment but I am on the list of people to be contacted when he does have them available. I'll post on this site or go and register yourself on his website.

Cheers,

Back in my old trucking days I had large side view mirrors and covex mirrors on my Peterbuilt truck. Obviously you could not see behind you because you had the 40 foot trailer there. The thing that was wrong with the convex mirror was at sundown when the sun is behind you you can't escape the sun in your eyes. I imagine it would be the same for this "Riderscan" mirror.

It's Peterbilt, not Peterbuilt.

Although this is supposedly a safety device i would find it a hazard. I would be so distracted in how good I look on my Burgman that I might not pay attention to what I am supposed to.

I'm thinking that a homemade one will be easy enough to make. If you look closely at it, the inventor did not go too far at all from his original try with a sauce pan/frying pan. It just looks like a portion of the pan was cut out and mounted. Guess you can do the same with a shiny bicycle fender. $100 US seems a bit pricey. Just have to figure out the mount.
