Greg,

You have done an outstanding job in forming up the NBS gathering in Liberty, NY. I had all intentions of attending with my "APPLE DUMPLING GANG" but due to medical reasons, I am afraid that I will not be able to attend. Sorry that you will be four bikes short from the Eastern Shore of Virginia this September. Will be looking forward to any Spring ride that yoou may develope. Definately will miss seeing all the riders. Good luck and drive safe.

Bob,
We wish you a speedy recovery.
Most people don't realize that you are one of the reasons past rides have run so smoothly. Greg, Jim and I all know what you have done for us. It's always a great feeling knowing you're along, and we appreciate the help.
So get better soon. We're looking forward to riding with you and the "APPLE DUMPLING GANG" at the next stop on the Tour.

Paul,
Thanks for the invite to show me around if I can get to Liberty sooner than friday pm.
Where is the hawks nest, I cannot find it on any map.
Two good games this weekend but the weather forecast is not good for the sunday game.
Even the pawsox are doing pretty good this year, and you can't beat the $5.00 ticket price plus the park is only 15 minutes from home.
I am for passing the hat for a bbq on friday night and would be happy to help to make the friday night bbq happen.
About the accent, I do not see how any one "upstate" should be concerned as I am under the impression that your term "evil empire"only refers to the new york city area.
As far as boston baked beans go, I guess I will just have to do without them that weekend as I would not want to get caught at the border with contraband.
On second thought, since you are so well known in the area if I did get caught with some boston baked beans I could just say they are for you and I am sure that would get me through.
Have a good weekend.

Greg,Paul,Jim,
I have a suggestion for a stop while on the Sept. NB Scooter Tour.
I recently read that the Motorcyclepedia Museum opened on 250 Lake Street, Newburgh,NY on April 16, 2011.
There was an article with many pictures about the museum in the may/june issue of the Motorcyclist's Post.
Don't know anyone who has visited the museum so can not comment on the museums appeal to riders.
Was thinking of taking a ride to the museum some day within the next two weeks.
I know you all have done extensive planning for the Tour but just wanted to alert you to this possibility.

Dave,
First, Congrats on 2 out of 3. I think it was Michael Kay on Friday who said over the last 10 years the red sox vs Yankees record is seperated by 3 more wins by your sox. I can't think of any other rivalry anywhere that even comes close to being so evenly matched. I suppose there are people that follow our "back and forth" and either find it amusing or think we're serious. You and I understand the rivalry, how it works and know it is NEVER personal.

Hawks Nest is an approximatly 1 mile long section of Rte 97 between Sparrowbush and Pond Eddy. It isn't always included on maps because it isn't a town. I was through there last night and construction has not been completed yet.

The museum you mentioned is too far away to include in the weekends routes. If you can get down here any earlier, I may be able to meet you at the museum and time permitting we can include OCC and a drive by of Paul Jr's shop before running down to Hawks Nest.
Another suggestion, and this isn't part of the NBST, if I have the time, we could meet up Friday morning do what I mentioned and finish up at the Days Inn.

We all appreciate your offer to help and contribute to a cook out. I'm not saying it will or won't happen, but currently there are still no plans for a Friday night cookout.

Hi Paul,
I understand that the friday night cookout is only a thought but how about as an alternative getting a private area at a local restaurant for a group friday night dinner? Just a thought.
You are very right, never personal, just a couple of guys being proud of and rooting for their home team.
The Yankee/Sox rivalry is probably the best one in major league baseball and I would bet that the tv audience for the weekend games was the largest of any baseball games this year.
Thanks for the invite to meet up before the Rally .We may stop at the Museum on the way to the Rally if we do not get to Newburgh some day before the rally.
What time would we need to be at the museum to possibly meet you and see the other locations you listed?
Really looking to riding the hawks nest, thanks for telling me where it is. Will check my NY maps.
I never thought I would say it but I am looking forward to cooler weather, this heat and humidity is to much.
This weeks forecast is calling for afternoon showers each day so for a brief period the humidity abates until the next day when the heat and humidity returns.
Thanks for looking into the Museum, maybe a stopping point for another Rally.
How many days to the Rally?

Robb,
Thanks. I had already made arrangements with the SCVA to have enough of those guidebooks on hand. It NEVER dawned on me to suggest anyone view it online or order a copy.

Update,
The Days Inn has come through once again!
Spoke with Mirna yesterday and asked her again about allowing us to have a bbq. Apparently the sticking point was whether we would be blocking other guests from gaining access to the lobby and parking lot. It was agreed that we may have our cookout but it must be done at the rear of the building.
As mentioned earlier, we don't have sponsors to pick up the tab. Unless someone has another idea, this will have to be a "pass the hat" deal. I did my part, now it's up to Dave and Jim.
As for dinner on Saturday night. There seems to be some confusion about the fact that it is not an organized get together, that people are "on their own". That was not our intention. Plans for an organized dinner were scrapped when it became the NBST. The fact that many dining options was mentioned was simply to give attendees a choice. Greg and I haven't decided on a place for dinner yet, but the thought is that we will simply announce that we're leaving at such a time and going to this place, anyone who wants to come along is welcome to join us if they choose.

Paul,
A big thank you for all your efforts.
Do you know if the Days Inn has a gas or charcoal Grill that we can use for the friday night bbq?
How about tables and chairs, maybe some picnic tables?

Jim,
Do you want/need help with the buying/cooking of dogs and burgers.
I was thinking we could add boston baked beans and potato salad to the menu.
This would round out the menu and almost make it a complete dinner.
Any ideas for dessert, I was thinking lemon squares or a variety of pies.
Is there a local favorite dessert?
Your thoughts.

Jim,
You're welcome. The thanks should go to Mirna, the Days Inn Manager, who has been VERY good to us. From when I first contacted her about the possibilities to her latest accomodations for us, she has been nothing short of terrific.
Taking a leap of faith, she gave us a super $65 room rate, is keeping the indoor pool open for us and is allowing our bbq. All of this without a guarantied minimum number of attendees.

Dave,
I did not see any picnic tables or chairs out back when I checked. I doubt they have a grill. Instead of lemon squares a variety of pies, potato salad and a drum of boston baked beans (don't forget the HazMat placards) , maybe you should save the space on your bike and bring a grill and some chairs. :D
My favorite local dessert is whatever you serve up as long as it's blueberry or apple pie.

For the Days Inn if you use corporate code 20646 during online checkout you get the same 20% off as the 14 day no cancellation policy except you do get to cancel within 1 day.
