Why would you care what others think about what you're wearing? As far as the second comment....you prolly answered your question.

I dont care what others think if i did i wouldnt be on a Burgman. I was just curious to see what the rest of the folks think.
The Burgman gets alot of stick but what sort of clothing do you think would be appropriate to wear on it?

Can't see why it would be any different than riding a scooter wearing full textile gear.

I think it is an image thing. A scooter is not cool but leathers are.

i often wear leather chaps, especially when riding the super slab, and during the cool months i wear a leather jacket, and sometimes leather pants, i have seen people who look like the michillen tire man in the cool months you may notice i live in florida, and it does get chilly here sometimes. there are quite a few around here who wear leather.

Depends on who gets to define what's cool and what's not Big Red is doing fine. Just got back from a 2500 mile 8 day trip so the mileage shown in my profile is a little low

I don't think you can anymore. I believe that went away when they changed the software that the forum runs on.

I wear full gear. In cool weather, leather jacket. Textile pants and jacket in warmer weather.
The asphalt doesn't care what you fell off of at 35mph. It will love your body just the same.

I wear a leather thong it can get quite uncomfortable at times - but hey sometimes a bit of pain can be fun.

I've seen everything from sneakers, shorts and a tank top to full bore armor. (and now an image of NormanB in a leather thong.....Thanks, Norman ) What is appropriate for me, may not be appropriate for you. Buffalo rides in Texas, where it gets pretty hot, I ride in upstate New York, where it's not. Ask riders where you live what works for them, then decide what is best for you.

I ride with other scooter riders sometime, and then wear textile pants and jacket. Other times, and far more often, I ride with groups of motorcycle riders (none of whom, as far as I can discern, enjoying Norm's pain ), where I am the only scooter (and almost always one of only one or two women riding their own bike, as well) and then I almost always wear full leathers (jacket, vest and pants) - unless serious rain is forecast and unavoidable, and then sometimes wear my waterproof textile gear plus leather vest. So does that make my scooter always "uncool," and my gear only "cool" sometimes? Hmmm....

Scooters are never uncool mate but you have summed it up leathers for bikers textiles for scooters! I wonder why? I like textiles they are waterproof so in Ireland I like them!

Motorcycle hell is riding a loud, heavy cruiser shoed with a car tire on the uninspiring interstate highway system. I chose something else.

Norm, I much prefer my textile over my leather, all the time, as it's far more comfortable and lightweight...but it doesn't seem "cool" to wear it with all the mc riders in their leather...and I don't think it's as much their attitude problem as it is mine. I just don't feel as much a part of the group when I'm the only gal and the only one in textile gear. Generally, I'm rarely concerned about appearing to "be a part of the group," but when I'm riding with the groups I ride with, we're usually doing missions where I think the continuity adds to the appearance of solidarity of the group and the impression it imparts on those missions.

Since you're riding a maxi-scooter you're past the "image" nonsense. Leathers are good for safety and good for cold. Vented textile with armor are good for safety and for warm. Last I checked wearing leathers on a scooter or a skate-board was not violating any vehicle code. If image is a problem buy the chopper I traded in for the Burg.

What is cool about looking like a pirate or one of the village people? people may laugh at and put down scooters as not being "real bikers" but i must say, what is so cool about riding a bike with the big ape hanger handle bars and pegs so you look like a flying squirrel.
like said above, the road does not care what you fell off of. 100kph/60mph will sand your skin off on bike or scooter. I wear gear all the time, skin grafts and having the road grit scrubbed out of raw flesh does not sound cool.

PLEASE don't answer that!! As to cool , a truly cool person was led into a room full of clothes and asked what the coolest outfit was, and I said , well whatever I pick out of course. scooters are not cool until you put the coolness on them with your attitude. neither is a hardley or a yamaskake or leather or atgatt or camo (never) or fig leaves, (more cool on wimmin ) I wear a leather jacket when temperatures are appropriate, smelling like the original owner of the leather is not cool in my book, but I wear it in stores on sidewalks etc not just on the bike , and mostly when on the bike people are checking the bike , and when not on the bike they are checking my sweet butt (flat like all old mens ) and attitude. .

I have always been a fan of wearing leather while riding on 2 wheels. Yes, I still wear leather on my scooter but have started to wear the textiles more in the last few years. Especially in the brutally hot summers we have here. Leather is just too hot! I will stay with the leather gloves year round but my other gear varies a lot with the conditions. I don't go for the "pirate" look with my leathers like some of the weekend warriors do but just a nice leather jacket and pants and gloves. I wear a leather thong
Do you wear it with leather chaps?
