Hello Clava,
Welcome to the forum. If I may suggest; you'll want to add you location to your profile so that other Burgman owners in your area can know you"re out there. It would good to meet up with a few other Burgies in your local area.
Btw, I would enjoy making this rally, but I would like more information about this years event. G-Bo thanks for link. However, I wonder why it only talked about last years rally?

He does have a page up on it but with not much information as of yet here: http://burgmanrally.homestead.com/NEW-FOR-2010.html This is a beautiful part of the country and I ride up that way quite often. I can promise that if you aren't familiar with the area you will be amazed at the natural beauty. The Falls Creek Falls ride he mentions is worth a trip in itself. If you would be coming in from TX I would suggest a stop at Dismals Canyon Conservatory in NW AL for another view of a hidden American treasure. http://www.dismalscanyon.com/Even if you don't opt for the event it's worth a ride out there just to use your camera.

I am still learning about the rally myself. I posted the question about the rally in hopes someone else would have more info. The link I included is about last years. Somewhere I read about the planning for this years, but I have been unable to locate it again.
If I remember correctly the date was Sept 10-12 in Vonore, Tn. The Grand Vista Hotel was the hub and they were offering a rate for Burgman folks of $74.95, but you had to ask for it.
Does anyone have more info?
Thanks, Clava

From the link I posted earlier for others interested: Dear Rally friend. I am planning the Second annual Maxi-Rally (Burgman Rally) in the Smoky Mountains. Last year we did the "Dragon’s Tail" Hwy 129 and Cherohala Skyway, and a few other routes not as famous. The Rally is in the southern end of the Smoky Mountains near Maryville TN. Last year it was held in the late summer, early fall. Hotel we used is the Grand Vista Hotel in Vonore, TN http://stanlodge.com/ Great hotel. We had time to meet up at a couple of great places to eat. It was a great Rally for the first year. There are plenty of places to ride. Around here so there are no shortages of places to ride that will thrill and chill you. We had a Rockslide on Hwy 129 and the road was closed, it is still in place blocking the western access to “The Dragon”. The rockslide may - or may not be cleared, but the Dragon is OPEN to travel. The “Dragon” is open ONLY from the North Carolina Side. We will be able to run on the "Dragon's Tail" “Hwy 129” “Deals Gap” both up and down. Well after a lot of soul searching and just waffling, I have decided to hold the 2010 Rally on the same weekend as last year. The following weekend AFTER Labor Day weekend. This year the rally will be held on September 10-11-12, 2010. I feel that I should not interfere with a family weekend and Labor Day is traditionally a Family weekend. I will be checking out a new route to offer this year to Fall Creek Falls. It is a little west of here but the scenery is spectacular with lots of photo opportunities... Full agenda of the weekend and planned rides will be available at a later date. Contact Grant at grantcad@gmail.comSee you then. Late note: The hotel has set aside rooms for us again this year. Book early and the rate will be $75 per night, same as last year. you remembered well. I wish there were more info as well.

I received a reply to email asking about the Burgman rally. Here is the what he said: Well after a lot of soul searching and just waffling, I have decided to hold the 2010 Rally on the same weekend as last year. The following weekend AFTER Labor Day weekend. This year the rally will be held on September 10-11-12, 2010. I feel that I should not interfere with a family weekend and Labor Day is traditionally a Family weekend. Contact Grant at grantcad@gmail.comSee you then. He included a phone number. I called but got his voice mail. I left a message asking him to post info on this forum and others telling all the details. Is this okay for him to do so? clava

Grant is already a member here on BurgmanUSA and can post about the rally if he so chooses. In fact, he's posted in this thread : viewtopic.php?p=381639#p381639

Agenda - Burgman/Maxi Rally 2010
Information: Weather could be an issue. Plan for a variety of weather conditions. It could be HOT. It could be Cold. It could be Rainy. The temperature up on the top of the Cherohala Skyway can be 20 degrees cooler than it is at the bottom. The elevation goes above 5200 feet, but only for a short time. Most of the time in the higher elevation on our routes the temperature will be cooler, typically.
Road conditions: The roads we will travel on are all in very good shape. No gravel roads. There is a possibility that some gravel has washed onto the road from driveways or cross roads. Use caution. At this point in time, there are no road closures because of Rock Slides.
Animals: Driving at night. We do have deer in this area, and they will cross the road in-front of you and your bike. We also have bear, but in the past 10 years I have not seen any while on the bike.
Friday: I would like to get a ride together for a ride to one of my favorite BBQ places. Dayton, Tennessee. Actually, I am planning to take the long way around to get there. Time I am not sure yet.
Saturday: Meet up at the Hotel, “Grand Vista.” At 7:30am, leave out for the ride in possibly 2 waves at 8:00am and at 8:30am. Route; Hotel to Madisonville to Tellico Planes, to Ocoee River, to Tellico Planes, to Cherohala Skyway, to Robinsville, N.C., to Fontana Dam, to Deals Gap, to The Dragon’s Tail, to Hotel. We will get some lunch out on the road. There is no shortage of good places to eat. Return back to the Hotel near 6:00pm or before. Social dinner at an Italian Restaurant in Madisonville, called the Patio. (Great Food).
Sunday: Start at Hotel 8:00am +/- Run over the Foothills Parkway towards Townsen, to Cades Cove to Sugarland rest area in the Great Smoky Mountains Park near Gatlinburg, then back to the hotel. About 4-5 hours.
Take part in all of the rides you wish or do only a part of the rides with us. I personally ride these routes all the time and they are some of the best places to ride in our area. There are probably better but these are close. I know you will like these trips, I love them.
Photos: Please bring your camera. We can stop a lot and get pictures. I do need to know what you are looking for. We will not stop at ever turn, otherwise it will take two weeks to go the full route. I would love for you to get some nice photos of your trip, so let me know when you want to stop for some pictures.
Grant Fetters Cell-Phone 423-404-8586 I will have my cell phone with me this weekend, BUT the phone service is very limited in the mountains.
