Good News!!!! Clearview Soon for 2008+ Owners

Postby dplank » Sun Mar 07, 2010 21:29 21

I recently received an email from Clearview for us poor 2008 400 owners. Here it is:

Hello Dan,
The problem is that I am not sure when we will have this ready to go.....it
might still be a few months.
If you would like to e-mail me again the end of the month I can see how the
project is coming along......I checked with the owner here and he said we
might run a special on them anyway when we are ready to launch them.....

Hope this works

Thanks

John

I received this email from Craig Stenger from Clearview on March 31 regarding the development of a shield for 2008+ 400's:

Still working on it. I have a prototype that will be close to testing by late April.

I will keep you posted

I think a windshield will be ready for testing a bit later in June or so.
I gave them my scooter to make a model and just got it back. Craig will call me when a prototype will be ready for testing so I can keep you updated how it goes.
So far it seams it will be a nice shield :) can't wait to test it :)

Got an email from Clearview recently and they say that the shield for the K8 400 might be ready in August or September.

I received this email on July 23, 2010:

Thanks for the inquiry...we probably won't have that design project completed until Fall. Sorry for the wait time.

Thanks,

Anyone got an update on the Clearview shield for the K8 400? Best I can tell from the long list of email lies that I have, is that Clearview has no intention of producing this shield. Apparently, all they plan to do is keep stringing us along. I really want a shield with the vent and they are the only ones who make one but I'm really about to run out of patience and buy something else. I think a year and a half is being very patient.

Well here it is, the latest confirmation of previous lies from Clearview. I received this email on 2/2/11. You can see from my previous posts of emails that I have been patiently waiting for a shield like this with a vent since I live in hot and humid Alabama. For years, Clearview has been promising a shield in a few months. They even borrowed a member's scoot to develop a prototype from. And now, like I suspected all the time after delay after delay, they confirm there is NO shield for the Burgman 400 2008+ and they don't intend to develop one. Here it is....

Hi Dan and thanks for your interest in Clearview Shields. At this time, due
to other projects, we don't have an estimated timeframe for completion of
the newer Burgman 400 shield. Sorry. I'll keep your email on file and
notify you when that project is completed.

In case you think I'm fabricating all this, send me an email to dplank@windjammercable.net and I will forward to you the above confirming that it truly came from Clearview. My old email is dplank@mindspring.com but I recently moved and had to change internet providers. I'll try to update my profile here in case anyone is wondering if this is legit. I promise you, as sad as it may be, it is 100% factual. I'm a former Marine. I have integrity. I am a businessman and I tell the truth even if it is uncomfortable. Unfortunately, Clearview doesn't practice the same ethics, has promised something they don't intend to deliver, and now, have lost a potential customer forever. No matter what bike I own, now or in the future, I will never ever own a Clearview product. I will take every opportunity to share my negative experience with as many people in the motorcycle world that I can so they too, can have the same level of confidence I have in Clearview. Thanks, Clearview for finally confirming what I suspected all along before I invested in one of your products. Oh wait, there is no product.

Hi Dan and other 2007 and Newer Burgman 400 riders.

First of all, we at Clearview are pleased to read so many positive reviews on this forum - we do take pride in our windshields and are very happy that so many of you ride with a Clearview.

Dan makes a pretty harsh inference that we are an "untrustworthy" company due to our not completing our design for the newer Burgman 400's. What we are, in fact, is a relatively small company that still manufactures each windshield by hand and strives to produce the best shields in the industry. Being a small company, most of you would understand that we have to budget our resources to some extent.

Yes, we are (and have been) working on this prototype and, to be honest, it is a fairly complex design and has taken longer than we had hoped. What we refuse to do however, is release the shield before we are certain it will perform as the best screen on the market...in other words, we haven't wanted to rush and release an inferior shield. We've always been proud of our unique designs and our quality, sometimes at the expense of being timely.

Yes, this project has been delayed while other projects took precedence. Frankly, we still have some concerns over investing the necessesary resources to complete this project due to the VERY small number of requests we have received AND our relatively small sales numbers for the previous Burgman 400 model. In addition, the other company producing shields for this model has a pretty good hold on this relatively small market.

We are sorry that Dan won't be among our happy customers once this shield is introduced and do apologize for his anguish at being uncertain of our completion date. One thing we have learned from this unique experience is to not give estimated completion times. In the future, we will simply say "we are working on the project".

We ARE pursuing this project and we will have a shield at some point in the future. Should we received more inquiries of interest, I can say that that would increase our sense of urgency.

If any of you have questions, responses or input, feel free to contact me.

Thanks again forum members for all your support!

Mark

I much preferred my Clearview to the Givi I have now on my 650. When my XXL broke, I wasn't sure I was keeping the bike so I bought whatever I found cheap (on this forum I believe). Now that I have decided to keep it, I wish I had sprung for the Clearview replacement.

When I just got my 2007 400, the first thing I looked for was a Clearview shield. I was surprised to find that they didn't list one available and bought a Givi. Now that I've invested, I won't be switching unless there's a problem but you may have a hold on more of the niche market than you know.
