Help!! New to me K7 400 with 16,000 miles was doing just fine for the first 500 miles I had her.....then, today, while on highway doing about 75 (on the dreamometer), I noticed a funny noise when I tried to increase speed to stay with traffic (almost as if I had it in neutral and reved it----just a whirring sound, and no response from machine other than noise). I would have to back off the throttle and then roll on again, and it would seem to gain a little speed then, but if I tried to WOT, got same response--horrible noise and no engine increase.
It also felt as if I were rolling on and off the throttle, a surging feeling, although I had not moved the throttle at all.
It did it again when I got off the highway, and onto 4 lane side road, and could not get speed higher than 50, with the surging feeling and noisy, non-responsive throttle.
When I pulled out of a side road, it was almost as if I lost all power, and was quite scary, as I had oncoming traffic, but then seemed to get power again in a second or two.
Could it be bad gas? or something more serious with the transmission? I stopped at the dealer, and they said something about valve clearance check possibly needing to be done. I talked to previous owner, and he said that he had all services done on schedule, and passed inspection before I bought it and then again today. It had the 14,500 service done, as well as all fluids changed, however, clutch belt not replaced.....possibly this??
