My guess is that Suzuki made this light assembly for overseas use only, as, if Im not mistaken, drive on the opposite side of the road, which would make sense for them but not us. I suspect they found out as they imported those, the easiest thing to do was to make both low beams work for U.S. use. Does that make sense?

The one light only for the K-7 Burgman 400 came from the European design on a lot of their bikes, Suzuki thought us Americans would think this a nifty European design....ooooooh I don't think so!! I just bought a K-7 Burgman 400 and found this one light on only to be a safety hazard. The side that is not lit up can not be seen very well at all by cars viewing that side of your bike at an intersection or T-crossing. My dealer said to change this you have to change the whole socket. Someone posted a reply awhile back stating to just move the headlight wire to the non-working low beam lite to the one that is always on...my dealwer d=said that would interfere with the operation of the high beams.

+1 to what JT said. The most it will do is cause alot of heat having both filaments lit in Hi mode, shortening the life of the bulb and putting extra load on the low side wiring. But it won't interfere with hi operation.

I did the modification this weekend. I followed the example of this link. http://www.burgman400.it/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7355&start=0 I then used a plug and go H4 headlight modulator from Comagination on the left side with an H7 Silverstar Ultra bulb, and a Velocity V-HID 5000K kit on the right side. I wanted to have the modulator, as I do a lot of urban commuting, but I did want brighter lighting to see the Michigan deer at night. Were #2 in the country for deer accidents; here is the top ten. http://money.cnn.com/2005/11/04/news/newsmakers/deer/
So I went with an HID to complete this two side combo. Both kits were very easy to do, The hardest part of the job was the tupperware.
