T-Bag & Nelson Rigg Luggage

Postby Gars » Sun Jul 27, 2008 12:04 12

I recently purchased a set of T-bag luggage for use on the '06 650 and the '08 Goldwing.

I got the Dresser and the Dekker bags. This was the low price ($132) for the dresser and the low price ($153) for the Dekker at:

I was advised to also examine the Nelson Rigg line of bags which I did. They were of similar specs:

The T-bag line came highly recommended to me, but the same party said the Nelson-Rigg line was a close second. In the end I went with it because the local Harley shop had them in stock where I could examine them. They were priced at full retail price plus local 8% sales tax however.

I am happy with both T-bags. They are well made and exude quality. They are made of semi rigid material that holds its shape when empty and have enough storage space to make a pack rat happy.

Both bags also attach with a 4 point adjustable buckle system that allows for quick on and off once you've adjusted the straps. Adjustment isn't difficult if you want to change between bikes as I do. The buckles hold the bags firmly.

Both bags come with a rain cover in its own zippered compartment. This is really nice when it begins to rain and you don't have to figure out where you've stored that cover.

The Dresser has one large zipper pocket on the right side and two half size zippered pockets on the left side. I also has a zippered compartment in the back that stores two straps that quickly deploy and fasten to the bottom of the bag to form a set of backpack straps.

The Dekker is designed to fit on the trunk case of a large motorcycle, but I found it fits the back seat of the Burgman 650 just fine as does the Dresser bag.

The Dekker also has two end pockets that are removable and have attached belts so they can be carried as fanny packs. Not a feature I think I'll need, but removing them makes the bag's length drop from 27 inches to 21 inches.

I do use a removable sheepskin cover around the 650's handles to prevent scuffing of the paint. This isn't necessary in the Wing because the straps attach to rubber handles or a chrome trunk rack.

The Dekker will double as an ice chest with the optional $25 plastic liner, but you can get a decent ice chest at WalMart for half that. I have two different sizes and together they cost less than $30.

In summary: Not cheap, but well built and worth the price IMHO. For less of an investment, look at the Nelson Rigg line.

10/10

I should have mentioned in the review that I have a Givi E52 tail case mounnts on the '06 650 which I use to anchor the top straps on the Dresser bag, but not on the Dekker bag.
