I havea midland CB and the J&M pac. (hand held). With the engine running, the unit is useless due to static (engine noise?)I used this unit on my SilverWing and it worked very well. It seems I read somewhere that maybe the type of tranny the Burgman has causes this problem. I could not find a way to acess archives and wonder if anyone else had encountered this problem and if so hopefully a solution. Thanks. cwdofva

Chuck I don't think the problem has been solved yet. The static is coming from the motor that varies the pulley on the belt. I think it is only on the '05 and later models. Missed you in Cheorkee this year.

Are people with the J&M handlebar mounted CB's , mounting the antenna with the license plate mounting strap that comes in the kit, and mounting it to the license plate frame? I'm not sure of the year of the Burgman I just changed the antenna mount on because of trx/rcv noise. Moved the antenna to the luggage rack and all noise is gone. Antenna ground is on the rear frame under the tailsection where the rack mounts,( 6mm bolt, 10mm head) very center of the rear. Would like to know if anyone else has tried this?

I have a Midland hand held mounted on a ram mount with a J&M Integrator IV unit (which gives me cb, radio, cell, gps and mp3) abilities. I also found running the CB on the cig. adaptor was useless and the threads I've read here point to the CVT in the 2006 or later model Burgman's.
I just use the AA batteries in the midland and find a I can go the season on 2 sets of batteries .. so .. although not perfect .. does work well under this configuration.

Yes - Transmission shifting causes problems for sure as I found a great reduction in noise when operating in Manual Mode (then noise showed up when I shifted Up or Down. My solution - not a good one, but at least I can use the CB on group rides.
I found some Channels of CB to be more sensitive than others (Example CH 1 is gross noise and requires setting squealch back to a level that I cannot pick up anyone very far away. CH 2 is much better with a lot less noise and I can turn squealch up to about 1/4 setting and hear folks in the group). Many other CHs the same way (some gross and some not bad).
Also, when practical to use Manual Mode - there is less shifting going on and there for less noise on the CB.
Finally, you will find some times even using a good CH (like 2 for me) and squealch set at reasonable point (1/4 turn) you will get noise when a lot ofshifting is going on in AUTO MODE like in hills and curves when slowing and speeding up. But, at least mine (a Cobra handle Bar Mount using it's own short antenna is useable).

I made a mounting strap similar to J&M 's, of steel, bolted to the two rear holes of the luggage rack. Antenna ground to the frame at the rear, right in the center there's a threaded hole, beneath the plastic between taillights. No more noise, crystal clear. Its an 06 650.
