Can anyone find a link with this information. I have searched with my best "google-fu" and came up empty.
I would like to see some photos as well. A 750 three banger scooter sounds like a nice machine.

A 750 triple seems like a bit of a stretch. A lot to cram under the Tupperware.
I would like to see more on this as it develops. :)

No need to put it under the tupperware. Here's how one guy did it with a Vespa. Of course, he'll need an asbestos jock strap...

RED L.E.D. ELDER,

I did several searches yesterday and didn't find anything either. I also checked a few of the the Yamaha sites (including Japan) to see if there was any announcements.

Interesting rumor...too bad there's no scuttlebutt online yet.

Doesn't get me all breathless and excited, but it would be interesting.

I don't know if building bikes with larger, less efficient engines, is the best business move in the current economy. It seems like a bit of a gamble to me. If the rumor is true and the scooter is introduced at a reasonable pricepoint, it might work out. As long as the fuel economy stays above 50MPG, it might still sell.

As evidenced by the following NY times article, big bikes just aren't selling right now.

That's Harley. Yamaha probably isn't going to charge $20,000 per bike, so the market is a lot larger.

Sure, but $10,000 is bad enough in the current economy. Considering that the current T-max retails for around $8,000 it is likely any larger engine model is going to have a higher MSRP.

From Majesty USA thread.
At its heart lies an all-new engine, taking the basic dimensions of the 500cc T-Max twin as a starting point to ensure the new machine is physically no bigger than its predecessor but containing entirely new architecture inside, along with a new CVT transmission designed to cope with the additional power.

The drawings clearly feature a conventional clutch rather than a centrifugal design, using electronically controled hydrolics to activate it.

The CVT box itself features metal drive belt technology, stronger than rubber-belt systems, and able to transmit twice the power for the same size of pulley . . .

If they would have made the suspension a little more comfortable I might have bought the T-Max but now I'm a Burgman rider for life maybe.

The transmission sounds very Burgman 650 like. Could be a very nice machine!

If it's got better suspension and bigger tires than the B650, I'm in :)

And ABS brakes. Mine came in handy today when an idiot literally walked out in front of me. Stopped faster from 40mph than I have in a year of ownership. Just glad the pickup behind me was paying attention. Good grief! Think I'll do some practicing on the way home.
