Reflective Pinstripe Match for 07 Executive Red

Postby CalvinFold » Mon Jul 30, 2007 17:15 17

I've been a big fan of using reflective pinstriping on my bikes. I've always done a "stealth stripe" job...same-color reflective pinstriping that only shows at night. So red-on-red, black-on-black, etc.

But the "burgundy/red" on the 07 Executive has me stumped. TapeWorks (my usual source) doesn't have a match, doesn't look like StreetGlo does either.

Anyone seen something in a burgundy or even a "black cherry red" color in reflective pinstripining?

Worse, the darned black plastic on the Burgman, just like the black textured plastic on Givi boxes, won't let the pinstriping stick...though I haven't tried the dash plastic yet, which is differnet stuff.

And even my recumbent trike at night:

On a side note...my first use of some custom-made decals in TapeWorks Flexichrome came out just gorgeous. Wet-apply was tricky, but worth it.

Sign me up as interested, too. I've been planning on pinstriping my Burg for months now. I've got a red/silver thing going on, so I was going to use silver pinstriping, but I'd go for incognito if it were available.

That flexichrome sounds interesting too. I recently put chrome tape on the lower leg shields and since it can't do compound curves, one piece has popped off already and will need to be replaced.

Mine was done with the silver 1/4" pinstriping and the 5 piece standard set of decals from streetglow. It definitely has better visibilty and I have gotten lots of favorable comments from people about it.

It's interesting stuff. It doesn't really stretch like the pinstriping or regular vinyl-like decals and pinstriping. It can do compound curves to a point, and you have to wet-apply to do it (which is messy, annoying, and not fool-proof).

I did my "Redshift" decals in the Flexichrome because it kinda works well for the Executive. One between the taillights in the back and one on the front wheel fender.

Billa; I got the white which is more of a silver color than a true white.
They have seven diff. colors and one of them is not Burgandy but more of a fire engine red and is the closest thing I have seen so far from any of the manufactors. I applied mine dry not wet but then again I've been doing decals wet and dry for years.
