If he experiences the same thing I did, about 2-3 mpg loss due to the larger windshield, which is acceptable to me for the better, and quieter ride. I got mine with the VENT, because of summers around here, and even in winter. I keep the vent open a bit to allow air to contact my helmet for antifogging.

5'8", 30" inseam, ClearView Large (needed to be able to see-over in the full-down position of the adjustable) for Winter, I kept the stock screen for warmer months. I have the vent, but like on my PC800, it seems rather superfluous except on the hottest days where these is a chill breeze still (and here, hot days mean hot wind usually). If I ever find myself getting a ClearView again, I'm skipping the vent. About a 2-3 mpg difference on the highway with the screen fully raised—but running around at 70-80mph that's kinda a "Duh!"

I have a 2X Clearview and discovered last week that all the way down probably blocks 90% of cold air on hands. Of course that increases head issues. I like the idea that I can give some relief to hands,

I find the vent of enormous benefit, especially during the cold weather here - I keep the vent cracked and moving air at my helmet (visor down) even at 25 deg F to keep the flow of air going for antifogging. I works fine, I don't get cold and the inside of my visor doesn't fog.
As for summer, the big windshield keeps a larger pocket of lower pressure air behind it, and as I said in another thread, at 80- 85 mph on I-10 I feel like I'm getting sucked or pulled toward the dashboard. The pocket of 'dead air' or negative pressure doesn't do a lot for cooling, especially with a full face helmet should I choose wear it (I have a Scorpion 'cop' style helmet for summer), and being able to direct air directly air at my helmet helps a LOT as opposed to no air coming around that big windshield.

Quantum, Kevin (Calvinfold) has an Exec. He can lower his shield for more air at his helmet, unilike you and I. That may be why he feels the vent is not as beneficial.
