I think I related that I had to repair my ClearView XXL a couple of weeks ago...I followed instructions I found and got the crack drilled and glued with Acrylic solvent cement. I called CLearView and related the cracking issue and the fellow told me they had a mounting hardware change a while back..well for $10 and shipping ($13 or 14 total) he sent me 5 new well nuts with the rubber bushings aroudn them....a HECK of a lot beefier than what I got with my windshield back in 09. I replaced them when I reinstalled my windshield, did the 5.5 turns and that windshield is solid. Wow. big difference. If you have a older Clearview XXL, I STRONGLY suggest you spend the $14 and get the beefier well nuts to anchor that windshield. As it is, the ones I got with the windshield and had been using were flimsy in comparison and were starting to dry rot.

My repaired windshield worked OK...until a few weeks ago. I was riding about 60 mph in some crosswinds, and I heard a pop and knew what happened. The crack I'd repaired had extended itself. So when I got home I just drilled it out with a bigger bit.

My repaired windshield worked OK...until a few weeks ago. I was riding about 60 mph in some crosswinds, and I heard a pop and knew what happened. The crack I'd repaired had extended itself. So when I got home I just drilled it out the end of the crack with a bigger bit and so far it's been OK. I will try the soldering iron approach to melt the crack.

I drilled it out once more, and it held for a bit, then cracked. I will drill it one more time as the crack is extending down towards the headlights. I will also use a soldering iron to 'melt' the crack on both sides The upper part of the crack has not progressed. Such is life.

Yea the crack continued, so I'll just replace it in the near future.
