Lip, Windshield or Windscreen? (alternatives to stock wind screen)

The almost unanimous concensus from Burgman owners is that the stock screen is inadequate.
The most popular alternatives discussed are the Laminar Lip, Cee Bailey windshield, Givi, Clearview and Gustafsson windscreens.
There are a lot of differing opinions on which is best and the concensus is that it depends on the individual's desires, height (from seat to head), cost, your riding habits and more (like climate).
The purpose of this FAQ is to provide a 'one-stop' place to explore the alternatives so you can make the best decision for yourself and avoid unnecessary cost from buying one alternative then finding it is not what you desired and having to buy another, generally even more costly, mod.

My personal experience with alternatives include the Laminar Lip and Givi on my 400 and the Clearview (XL with vent) on my 650. My opinion (as I ride almost everyday and we get rained on often) is to spend the extra money on the Clearview (with vent). Your opinion may vary!

The Laminar Lip (scooter page) provides an extension-shield which attaches to the stock shield to alleviate/redirect upper airflow. For Burgman 400 and 650. Current price is $79 (+S&H)

Clearview Shields offer increased protection with high quality product, a choice of sizes and tinting and are the only aftermarket windscreen producer for the Burgman line (both 400 and 650 and 650 Exec.) to offer a vent (identical to the type seen on many Goldwings).

(Note: There is a huge amount of information on Clearview Windsceens - a search for clearview is currently 835 resulting threads)
These forums are older than some of the products Clearview offers and is currently producing (ie. A Clearview for the 400 as well as for the 650 Executive) so some information you may run across may very well be outdated. Also, there is now a Clearview importer in the U.K. which may save our European members significant importation/shipping costs. (SEE: UK Owners source for CLearview screens which directs you to here (see bottom of thread!)

Threads on comparing (although many of the above also compare):

Wind buffeting and windscreens.
Again, there are a LOT of threads on comparing one to another. You should analyze your height (from seat to top of head), riding habits (do you ride in the rain?), financial ability (can you afford to pay close to $300 for a clearview? I spent $80+S&H then $120+S&H then close to $300 (including shipping) and your desires or what you can't live without.
