I'm back. When it rains it pours. The tree is gone and I really got lucky. My trike was in the garage and the only thing the tree damaged was the molding around the side of the garage. Light damage maybe $200 bucks.

Ok couldn't lift the bike as I don't have proper equipment. I have jacks but really there is no place to put the jack under the trike set without causing damage.

I did take the trike out to a parking lot in Fairfax not far from where I live here in Cincinnati on Sunday. With no cars in the lot I worked my bike in turns and this is what I found out.
When turning left the bike whats to pull right every time. At a quit start the trike wants to pull right almost every time. On a sharp left turn the trike wants to pull right. Every time it pulls right there is a sharp loud crack on the right side.

I sent all of this information to Richard at Yelvington on Sunday afternoon. Richard replyed on Monday morning and he knows what the problem is. The berrings and the shims are bad in the front assembly. This assembly was shipped to a trike dealer up in Detroit last year and apparently the guy did not put the shims and the berrings in correctly. This will cause the trike to pull right on turns going left.

Richard is trying to find a dealer here in town to do the work and will ship the parts and the design to the dealer. I know Hamant's in Bromley KY does only trikes but I would never take it to a Suzuki dealer like the one in Fairfield Ohio. These places do not like to work on trikes.

AS soon as Richard emails me where I can get it fixed I will most likely get my buddy to haul the trike to the dealer and get it fixed.

Will keep everyone updated.

Thanks for the all the advice.

Ok here is the follow up on my trike. Richard and I talked on Monday and we have a game plan. The problem is in the front drive assembly. Apparently the lady who had the trike before me wash shipped a front drive assembly from Yelvington. The dealer who put it in did not use any shims. Richard told the guy it would not steer right if the shims were not put in as spec. The dealer didn't pay any attention to him or put them in wrong. All of this work was done in the fall of last year and the bike was not run all winter until I bought it in the spring.

So the bike was ok until I took a trip on it a few weeks ago and that is when the front assembly had issues. There is also a bearing loose on the right side wheel inside the tube. Might not be anything much but something is rolling around inside. My trike buddy who has worked on many trikes over the years noticed this right off.

The trike is in the process of being taken apart. The front drive assembly will be sent back to Yelvington per Richard request and will be inspected fix and sent back.

Richard has been very helpful with this situation and I do believe Yelvington is a good company. I just want to get back on the road again with my bike safely. If the thing was fixed right up in Detroit last year this would never had happened. Here I thought I was buying a bike that was in good shape and now I find out that shortcuts were made at the dealer in Detroit and the trike set was not set fixed properly up there.

If this is Madonna's trike, she had wobble issues that they could not fix and she sold it. She was afraid of it and I do not blame her.

Dave,

No Motorcycle Mama I do believe after reading long post by Richard. She wanted everything including the kitchen sink for free. The bike doesn't have an wobble and really the Burgman itself is sound. The only issue I have is with the steering pushing to the right when I want to turn left or go left.

I now have the bike pinstripped in moster green on black and man it looks great. Now if I can get this issue taken care of I will be in business.

Update! My bike is fixed thanks to Richard of Yelvignton and to Tom my local mechanic. After I explained the problem to Richard the part that was bad was the front drive assembly. This part was replaced by the last owner improperly causing it to break down over time. Richard knew what the problem and replaced the part.

The bike is now sound. We did however disconect the ABS which really never worked on the trike set. I have ridden the bike serveral times with no problem. My family wants me to sell it and wants me to buy a second car, but now it run great and I like riding the dang thing. I did post my bike on the ads but I may keep it. Going on a couple of rides in the next two months on family protest but we shall see if I keep my bike or sell it. :?:

You should really try it out on the dragon next weekend. There are several people from the area going down. Sept 21-23.

Good to go. And I say keep doing what you want to do till YOU don't understand why you do it. My wife wants me to stop doing the 41 mile (82 round trip) commute on a bike but I will never do this commute in a cage everyday so lets move closer. Oh NO not going to happen!!!

I am seriously thinking about doing the EXO reverse trike kit. But with that trike you set 3-4 inches above the ground and visibility both ways is a problem. I would paint it "Screaming Yellow" and put 100's of LED's on it.

Yellow would really stand out. I think bright colors on a bike is great. The guys in cages can see the bikes better. LEDs are the way to go on bikes and more manufactures should be putting more LEDs on bikes as standard equipment. LEDs take very little off amps off the battery and your bike is highly visible.

I might just keep the bike to pisss off everyone in my family including my girlfriend. I got home late last night riding my bike under the stars. It was awesome! You can't get a feeling like this in a car. You rock dave 80 + miles on a bike for a commute. I feel on a bike all you relax more and all the crap that goes on in a day is gone when one is on a bike. It is like someone left the gate open and you were just let loose.

Yeah my nephew is going on that ride. Weekends are out for me as I'm in the F&B country club business. Weekends nights I work most of the year. That would be a long weekend. Not going to happen. Might go down to Fuel Coffee on Sunday this week. Haven't been there must this year.

I may take a three day ride down to the Bourbon Trail in a few week leave on a Sunday come back on a Tuesday. Never done that before. Should be cool.

Belief me, I would love to live within a 2 minuet walk to work. After I retired from the US ARMY, I tried to get a job locally but none were available so I had to commute. I was a multy-line Telephone installer in the Army so I tried to hire on the local Telco, US West and they said "You do not meet the minimal requirements to be a telephone installer" meaning they did the math of when I graduated from high school at 18 and 21 years later knew I was 39 and too "OLD"to teach. But GTE up above Seattle WA hired me on the spot. That was 15 years ago and I have been commuting ever since. But in those 15 years, I have had 1 car accident and two motorcycle accidents.

Dave,

Let me try this again. Do you ride your Burgman back and forth to work everyday or do you have another motorcycle? I find that the Burgman is a great scooter to ride, very confortable and has plenty of power when you need it. Around here I see plenty of riders on Chinese bike you know (fix or repain daily if you can find parts) and a few Silverwings Vespas but now many Burgman's. My buddy rides a 650 Burgman and loves it. Not sure whey anyone would even think about buying a Chinese bike unless they think they may want to save money. Down the road they will find out what they saved didn't pay off. They may look good on the outside but the inside counts most.

Today it is a little cool and I won't get off work until late tonight. Sunday I will ride as it will be a great day in the Ohio Valley.

I ride my Burgman 650 to and from work daily in all weather but SNOW. I have rode from work to home in snow on a day the weather man said none but we got 2 inches at 2 PM. I have no other car or truck I would do this in. I do have a Subaru Legacy Turbo wagon for snow days. My average is just under 20,000 miles per year and I have done it, minus the days out sick from accidents, since 2006.
