Leaving the Burgman family

Postby kwalters » Fri Apr 13, 2012 8:08 08

My Burgman is off to a new home tomorrow. Time for a change so I just bought a Honda ST1100. I was ready for more performance and just something different. I get bored easily!
Got to say my 6 years and over 19,000 miles on the 650 has been enjoyable. Burgman's are probably the most versatile vehicle on 2 wheels. Bike has been dead reliable and still has original battery. My only real complaints involve the terrible suspension unless you make mods (for a fairly expensive bike), fast rear tire wear, and the complexity and expense of some repairs. If I had the space and money I'd love to keep it. I'll probably miss it.
Thanks to everyone who participates on this site! The information contained here is invaluable. I'll suggest that the new owner joins ASAP.
I'll still have to visit, from time to time, just out of habit.

Motorcycle riding is a dangerous hobby for many. It becomes a sport when one learns to master their ride.

Some days, it's not even worth chewing through the restraints

Thanks for sharing your summary of your Burgman experience. I find it to be spot on from my point of view. Good Luck with that fabulous new bike.

Get your STOC # and get to know all the ST11 / ST13 veterans on the orignal list at: STOC The List

you are going to really like the ST11, still my favorite all time tourer.

I am still hoping that someday, SuziQ will make an 1100c Burgman.

post a few pics of that new beauty if you get a chance.

All the best and enjoy...

ps: tire wear on the ST11 will be on par with the 650, it's a 700 lbs ride. Your mpg will be very close to the 650 but with tons more power.

The ST100 is a very nice machine, many would say the 1300 brought nothing to the party other than cubes.

Enjoy it ---- until you come back to a Lardy - say 2015? :D

Honda makes some nice bikes, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. I have to admit I had been looking at the new Concours but if I had real money I'd get a K1600GT.
