Removing the front box.

Postby asolof » Sat Feb 25, 2012 16:36 16

To change the cooling fluid I want to remove the front box. I removed all the screws, the parking brake handle, and the connectors for the accessory plug. It seems the be blocked where it abutts against the perforated front center section of the foot board. Is there some trick in removing this?

Yes,

I'm using LeDude's site plus the Suzuki manual. I must be doing something wrong though.

The only thing I recall removing was the black radiator cover in the front, and the hump cover. I had enough access to do the job from there.

Did you removed the 2 screws inside the main glove box?

There is a hook right in the center that hooks it to the tunnel cover that you have to wiggle a little to get to release.

You are right. Removing the front box is unnecessary.

THANKS!

Yes.

Maybe I didn't giggle it right. In any case, I was able to change the coolant without removing it so I just screwed it back.

I can't get the sucker off as well.

I looks so easy in LeDudes video.

Maybe the mechanic did something wrong when he installed a new one after my crash.

It seems to be sticking at the nose of the center glove compartment.

Suggestions?

I just finished updating the DIY doc and added the video link to it.

Tupperware - Front Box

There are a total of six screws that hold it in place, make sure you have removed them all.

You also have to remove the 12 volt connector and disconnect the wires.
Don't forget the emergency brake handle.

I personally always remove my Leg Shield before removing the Front Box, just less of a chance to break tabs etc.. but one can do otherwise.

You may want to pay attention to the way the front box and floor board interconnect at their bases, and make sure that there are no screws holding
them in place where the two pieces connect.

Otherwise, it is a rather simple piece to remove.

good luck.

Well, it's off now, but I broke it at the top right corner of the fuse door opening. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Afterwards, I practiced with the front box that was damaged in my accident, and it was still a fight.

Loosening the floor board made it much easier, and I wonder if I should take off the floor board before trying to re-install the front box, or if tha floor board has its own issues?
