Fuel Filter

Postby Hunter » Fri Dec 22, 2006 14:36 14

Looking for Guidance :-

Does the AN650 have a fuel filter?

If so where is it located ?

What maintenance does it require ?

If it requires to be replaced how is this done and how often ?
Regards

There is no fuel filter in the 650. The only filters I am aware of are the oil, air, and CVT filter.

There's one shown on pg 7-10 on the pump, in the tank. It appears to be a "clean it if flow is reduced" (with compressed air), "replace if clogged". It's not on the maint. sched. in my manual (2003).

P# 15410-10G00 at $100 per, I think a good blowout is called for !

I can speak from experience. There IS a fuel filter located in the fuel tank. DO NOT let gas sit untreated in your tank for long periods as you will get varish on everything and ruin the filter and the pump. I speak from experience. :?

If you store the bike make sure you put a fuel stabilizer in the tank. If you just don't ride much maybe run some cleaner through with a tank of gas once in awhile (quarterly maybe?)

PS: The fuel pump is sealed and not serviceable...

"Stabil" is a good product, all might consider using over the winter whilst it sits in the paddock. Gas goes bad and as Scuba Girl has mentioned varnishes parts sitting in it. If I remember rightly and I could be short on memory it lasts normally 6 months but can be increased up to two years.

Even diesel oil looses it's cetane within about 3-6 months and requires a booster.

Also, the fuller the tank, the better as moisture condenses on the inside of the tank. Winter gas has at least 10% ehtanol in it and this will soak up most of the excess condensation.

"Engine fog" would be good, though, would require modification.
I've kept machines for up to 5 years this way and they start and run perfectly.
