Youngest Burgman Rider

Postby RPG405 » Tue Jul 14, 2009 12:43 12

Hi all,

I'm going for the title of "Youngest Burgman Rider" - I'm just old enough to buy the bike itself at the age of 18! I've been riding my 400K5 for 3 months now and love it, especially because of the amount of stuff you can put under the seat. I use it for work to carry my work bag around (I do computer repair house calls), something that would never be possible on a conventional motorcycle! I swapped out all the stock light bulbs for LEDs (save for the headlights), if you have any questions about that feel free to ask. I might post a thread here about the journey if I can find the time to do it :bom:

How young are the rest of you?

Congratulations on the acquisition  "How young are the rest of us?" Are you sure you want to know? :? As for me I'm 51 years "young". The median age of Burgman riders is in the 50's I believe. You are one of the youngest owners but I'm sure there are younger riders. My son was riding mine before he was 18. Hre is a poll about Burgman rider ages http://burgmanusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=34950

Welcome to BUSA from the Heart of America-Kansas City! You are the youngest Burgman rider/owner. We have done several surveys and the most recent one, the fastest growing group was for people in their 20s. We may have one 19 year old once. You are obviously very intelligent, usually it takes you till middle age to realize the value of a Burgman. The average age has gone down from 51 y.o. to 47 y.o. and you probably brought it down some more. Go youth! I am 53 y.o.-turning 54 in one month. JC

Damn, and I thought I was one of the younger ones :D

25, turning 26 in a couple weeks. And no, Burgmans aren't reserved for old folks. Atleast thats what I keep telling myself. They are reserved for wise folks who know why a Burgman is better than a conventional motorcycle.

I think, if I recall correctly, that many many years ago I was at one time 18 yrs old, and as I can recall, at that time I didn't have a job, a plan or a clue of what was going on, that was when chevy had tv ads with a guy in a convertable smoking a ciggie and a bud in his hand.

Heck, as said, I'm 25 and still have no clue what the heck is going on :)

Man I remember being 18. I had a 50cc Italian sport bike from Monkey Wards, a 10 year old 57 Chevy. two door, six banger. Original factory color was turquoise, but the hot color then was canary yellow, so I painted it. Seventeen cans of spray paint later it looked awful. I had to save a bunch of money to have it done by some guy out of his garage. Sold it for $125. Man 18 was great! (Except for the war, the draft, and my some of my buddies)
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting Holy Crap...What a Ride!

Welcome aboard! Watch out on those Dupage county roads. The other drivers can cause you hell! I am Dupage county born and raised, most of it in your neighbor to the west. I did a 300+ mile trip in from Ann Arbor a few weeks ago. My first stop was Portillo's. Have a blast with your new scooter.

I remember 18... I bought my uncle's '79 Kawasaki 650SR... that was after an amazing road trip with my dad where I rode his "project bike" a rebuilt from the ground up retired Harley Davidson FXR... nothing like having 1340cc's as your 1st bike after being licensed for a WEEK and 1st long distance road trip experience!

Clearly the Kawa was quite a departure- but the difference... it was MINE!

Just purchased my AN400K8 approx 8hours ago- a month before my 39th birthday.

Remember guys, you are only as old as the person you are feeling. Which puts me at 39 - which is fine by me as the birth certificate says 1952. Clearly an admin error! :?
