Hi The parking brake probably just requires adjustement - do you have a handbook? On the fork seal rust issue - it may be worth dropping the forks out, draining out wahtever oil and water is in there and giving it a good optical bollicking. You need to examine the surface finish in way of the seal and working area. On reassemble you will need new seals and oil. Welcome to the forum.

Odds are the parking brake cable is rusted in place and needs to be replaced. Same thing has happened on my 2003 400.

Sfunny neither is mine, perhaps itsa common fault. (mine's a 1999 AN250 Burgy) My previous Burgman 400 also had the same problem, oh yeh the light goes on, but it dont work. Hmm.
If anyone wants details (pics and stuff) on the latest mod for a passenger backrest for the 250/400 Burgy (well u gotta keep the wife happy) let me no.
Great site, well done everyone

hi, i posted this on the uk burgman site, it may also help someone here also. the large bolt in the centre of the caliper is the adjuster.
first, make sure the lever is not pulling the cable, then slacken the locknut which is on the large bolt. finally, slowly turn the large bolt "in" untill it is allmost binding the brake, then back off a bit more, then try the lever, if too tight back the bolt out a bit more.
when adjusted, just tighten the locknut.
hope this helps
