K400 08 rear tie downs

Postby Toolie » Sat Mar 24, 2012 21:20 21

Hi all while cleaning my new to me 08 400, I found a small bracket on each side of the rear fender and I am wondering if these are suitable for tieing down while transporting. If anyone knows for sure, I would appreciate the help. Thank you.

Duster
Thanks for your kind reply, my Honda had some similar brackets underneath which were not substantial enough to be trusted. Thanks Again

On my '05, down along the bottom of the plastic, below the passenger hand-holds,
is the knob to adjust the pre-load for the rear shock....right next to it, welded on
the frame is an oval 'chain-link', that can be used as a tie-down. There is also a
welded 'loop' opposite it on the right side.....you'll probably have to run your fingers
along the frame, just up inside the bottom of the plastics, to find it.....that's easier
than standing on your head to see them. Not sure if your '03 has them....don't know
when Suzuki started installing them. And they may not have them in all markets of
the world.
It is well with my soul.

Out of luck, I guess the 03's didn't have them. I first started to stand on my head and found it easier to just look at the other side with a flashlight - checked both sides - no tie-down thingy :( . I'll just have to keep looping the straps to themselves around the grab-on bar.

My '06 400 has them. I also accidentally found the knob to adjust the pre-load for the rear shock. I didn't know it was that easy to adjust them!

2 pleasant finds for me...

Those work for tie down points as well as lifting points. I have used them for both!
