New Holland Fall rally

Postby Hazard » Sun Oct 24, 2010 20:33 20

I have been searching for the Fall New Holland rally thread, but to no avail.

Is there or was there a problem? Just wondering. I certainly hope all is well in that area.

Jim:

Perhaps the administrators decided we were getting to far off the subject of the fall Rally. I am involved in several charitable endeavors. If the cause for elliminating the fall rally forum was due to my posting for help from friends and fellow ridersr concerning aid to disabled veterans, I appologize. I am involved in several charitable causes, one of which is the plight of veterans.

My reasoning for "pushing" this charitable project on our rally discussion forum is precisely because many vets ride each Spring and Fall in this rally, some disabled. My intention from the beginning was to keep it semi private. That is, limit it to my friends and "family" whom I have ridden with for several years i.e. the Mid Atlantic Rally disccussion rather than a general post. Perhaps the adminstration on this forum have forgotten that most of us on the Mid Atlantic Rally discussion have ridden together for years and "see" each other as family. Who better to ask for help than from family?

if this is the reason for eliminating the discussion, I must disagree with the Burgman Site admistration. If not, I for one would also like to know the reason why the discussion was eliminated.

Your good friend and fellow rider,

Vince

As rally organizer, for whatever reason it may have been,I would have like the Rally Details, the first post to have remained for review by newcomers and others who might be interested in attending future rallies.

Oh, and that would be : The Midatlantic Scooter Rally!

I guess that when the spring MASR is posted you will have to play up the past history of the rides and refer to the Photos section of the MASR Site.

Personally I liked having the past posts to refer back too on occation...

Greg & Jim:

I agree with you. The Administration should have taken surgical steps to discard posts they deem not appropriate, including mine. I might disagree but have no problem with this and would respect their decision. However, eliminating the entire discussion does not seem reasonable. On the other hand, we should not lay blame on the administration purse. This could have been an honest mistake, the result of pressure brought on by outside objections or even the result of a programming situation.

Now that's a hell of a question. When was the last time you beat your wife? - Kidding. Actually, I look to myself first. My thought is that I took the post too far outside its limits in pushing help for disabled vets. My second thought is that I may have pushed some fun diatribe with Paul Boomer too far for the administration. Paul knows it is in fun - I think. Hey Paul, put on your big boy pants and suck it up - kidding. Words are nothing more than just that. Ouch, I know I am in trouble on the Spring ride lol.

In either event, the Burgman administration owes Greg an explanation. Then again what did you post Delburg that got the post eliminated? lol. Seriously, let's hope the administration comes up with an explanation and the post gets reinstated.

Vince,

I appreciate your concern for reinstating the post, though I am sure we will all get by without it.

There will be a new post with the spring rally dates coming in the next few days anyway with the details to follow.

Joking aside, we must all remember that using this great forum to post messages on to converse back and forth with one another, is not a right, but a privilege to which I am certain we are all thankful to the owner of this web site Bryan aka Greengoose and all the Moderators who volunteer their time for.
Had it not been for this forum I and many others would not have been fortunate enough to have met and shared so many wonderful times with so many great friends.

Got home tonight around 9:30, this was one long, cold day of riding around 450 miles give or take a few, Burgman performed flawlessly as usual.

Saturday route looks to be around 90 miles, beautiful scenery, I think everyone will love this route. Past a lot, 20-30, horse & buggies today. Hopefully the roads will remain good through the winter.

I'm whooped, got to go thaw out in bed, and get some rest before having to get up for work in AM.

Hi Paul and Kathi:

You might want to try Jim's personal Email rather than using this site, if I understand the problem. I have had some problems in the past with emailing through the forum.

I want to personally thank Sean for emailing me today explaining the "deletion" of the Mid Atlantic Rally Posts. Had nothing to do with us kicking ass with each other lol. Seems it was just some Administrative housekeeping and we got off the subject a bit. As I understand it, Greg can pick up the discussion's heading once again.

Thanks for clearing this up Sean.

Take care Paul and Kathi,

Hi Will,

Sorry you missed the post, it would have been nice to ride with you.

I've been working so many hours at my regular job, just got home a little while ago, 6:00 AM till 9:00PM, this has been making for very long weeks. I was trying to go on Saturday but I was too tired, I knew Sunday might be my last chance this year, weather wise, and I still had to program my new GPS and mount it on the scoot, also had to mount my new phone, by the time I was finished, it was getting real late, and needed to just get going, I actually made the post on the forum from my cell phone when I stopped for lunch on the way.

As far as the vest goes, I appreciate the kind and generous offer, but I would not feel right in taking the vest that was given to you, by all, in appreciation for all the years of work & dedication you put in to The Rally,.... and trust me you look better in a leather vest than I ever would! LOL

I am still planning the Sunday route, so maybe if I get it done soon and we have another "Indian summer" weekend, we can get together for the route check, otherwise it will have to wait until the spring.

Looking forward to seeing you again, say Hi, to Gail & the family for Margie & I.

Greg

Greg,

I feel that the rally host/road captain vest should be passed along whenever a change of command is made. Since I already have three other leather vests as well as a denim vest, I really can afford to have it remain with the Mid Atlantic Rally leaders. A simple change of the name tag is all that is required and I think you will be wearing it for quite awhile.

I appreciated the gift but, since I have "retired" the logo on the back is not a true statement of my present involvement. So, please accept it and wear it proudly for future rallies and pass it on when the time comes.

Your friend,

Will

Greg,

Does your Spring Saturday ride include a refreshment stop at Cycle Max? If so, what is your expected time of arrival so that I may make the arrangements?

If you decide to test the Sunday ride, please email me so that I may join you at Yoder's for breakfast and then take the ride with you. I won't put the scoot away until Thanksgiving and then do my deer hunting thing.

On another note, you are in an excellent trade and fortunate to have gainful employment. We share the same profession and I continued on to obtain an Associate Degree in Industrial Engineering. This is a relatively easy accomplishment which you might consider as that diploma makes a big difference in empoyment and increased earnings.

Although you are putting in longer hours probably due to overtime it is a great feeling on the way to the bank! Employers tend to utilize ovetime due to a slow economy as opposed to taking on new hires due to cost of training and possible short term lay-offs.
