I wonder why the 2007 Burgman 400 isn't on the list. I suspect the parts are different.

You have me concerned. This is the first I've read of such issues with the '08/'09 AN650's.

I think the key wording is contained in the Transport Canada notice.
".......the rectifier/regulator assembly MAY have been produced with insufficient adhesion between the power module (circuit board) and the rectifier case."
The Suzuki bulletin is only to dealers - to check and/or replace the assembly on 'in stock' units. I've seen no indication, as yet, of a Suzuki recall being issued in the U.S. for units already sold If I were an owner of a 400 with related VIN number in the U.S., I would most definitely be checking this out with my dealer and Suzuki U.S.A.
The Transport Canada bulletin lists this (possible) problem as being a recall.

OK - my number is in there - do I just sit around and wait for something else to break?

Daboo had a bright thought. I checked the parts listings and the rectifier and control unit are different numbers from K7 to K8 with no change up showing. Looks like they may have done something different when they changed the headlights from 7 to 8 and were having to cover higher wattage ratings with proper headlight set ups. Just a thought Paul

When the 08' came out they had a recall on the same part so I brought my bike in . Now they are recalling them again . I'm just wondering if the 09' and 10' have the same part like the 08' recieved on the last recall .

This is from the Suzuki Canada web site. http://moto.suzuki.ca/~/media/Recalls/C ... etter.ashxThis recall dated October 8/2008 was for the AN400K8 and was for water ingress problem with the regulator/rectifier. Makes no mention of the adhesion problem now being addressed.

Just got this email from a local dealership when I asked about the recall:
This right now only affects bikes that have not been sold, according to Suzuki. So at this time continue to ride your bike normally. If there is a recall on your bike you will receive notification from Suzuki in the mail. If you have any questions please give us a call.

Call me crazy, but when I see stuff like this from a manufacturer, I lose all confidence in its ability to address the problem and look to other experts/mechanics and vendors and get a replacement solution myself. I'll just bet people like this http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/catalog/ or http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/rr20-reg ... 749-0.html know exactly what the problem is and can sell a product that has been (human hands) inspected or is an upgrade product that will perform better. You can try to OVERSHOOT problems like these with performance engineered parts or tested/inspected parts from people who make this their living.

Couple of members at the Volusia (Boulevard) forum just posted that they contacted Suzuki USA. They were advised that a full recall will be issued to owners of all affected VIN by mid March via mail.

Good find. This kind of stuff seems interesting, and makes me consider applying for in house counsel internships next summer.

Strange that I came to this website today, it's cloudy outside, so I'm just killing time till my duty is over, but late March my 09 AN650 executive died on the side of the road 12 miles north of the Suzuki Dealer in Pharr, TX. I was lucky and smart, I made contact with them just after I bought this, my first Burgman, and got to know the service manager. One call and 30 minutes later they were picking up my Burgman and me; even haul my fanny back to our resort. The worst part, it took almost 2 weeks to get the rectifier. I just hope the replacement unit isn't from the same batch of defects. Another smart move on my part, I bought a 5 year Extended Service Agreement!!!!!! I've never owned a machine like this Burgman and I've had a lot of machines(scootere, motorcycles), this Burgman 650 Executive is one hell of a machine.... Rich

RECALLhttp://forum.motorcycle-usa.com/default ... 7&m=502046http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/V ... rn=2011071JS1CK44A*92100002-JS1CK44*92100956 Recall Details On certain motorcycles, the regulator/rectifier assembly may have been produced with insufficient adhesion between the power module (circuit board) and the rectifier case. Due to this insufficient adhesion, heat generated on the power module circuit board can cause the circuit board to deform. This could cause excessive heat on the circuit board and uncontrolled electric current output, which can result in insufficient charging current being provided to the vehicle's battery. Battery discharge could lead to engine stalling and/or a no-start condition. Lost propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the regulator/rectifier assembly.

NOTEFor those with affected VIN that have already replaced the defective unit, make note of the time limitation for claim of reimbursement contained in the recall notice. Page 8, para 4. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/docse ... 8-1467.pdf

I had the same pleasure with my '08, having to take it in and sit around waiting for 3 hours while they tear into the front end...no small job either...to change the rectificer. You'd think after that recall, they could have got it right. Now I get to do it all over again. Whopee! At least it took me on my trip today, a little over 300 miles running interstate at 70-80 mph indicated.

The 650 is not listed, only the Burgman 400s ALL 2008s and some 2009s.
