Jacket liner option

I've got a couple of Tour Master jackets that I use, one mesh and the other leather, depending on the season. I've found the liners to be just ok but not as practical as I would like. On my last big trip I left the liner home and used a packable down jacket like this one;

Anyhow, the little light weight down jacket works much better than the liners in either jacket with the added benefit that the liner can be worn alone on a cool day when I stash the jacket under the seat while off the bike. Also, the down jacket tucks into its own pocket for easy storage on the bike if I don't need it. I put on the down jacket and the outer jacket slips right on over it without effort and it feels really good. Warmer than the old liner too. I've ridden with the mesh jacket down into the high 50's and been just fine. Under the leather it is downright toasty. Very little bulk. Just an idea.

My Tour Master liners work just fine. However my problem was once I got to my destination, id take off my jacket and was cold. So I ditched the liners and got a hoodie jacket with no hood. Works great as a liner and I'm worm when I get there. Yea!

I've also used a hoodless sweat shirt but it was too warm and a pull over, they now sell lighter full zipper kind. I have used sweat pants as well when I didn't have thermal long johns.

G'day Mate! Perfect Idea! This is exactly what I have been doing for the last few years. I had one of those Hawk & Co packable down jackets and love it! They are warm and cozy. So I asked Santa for another one, and I got my second one this Christmas! Thank You Santa! They are so cool because they can stuff themselves all inside the inner pocket, into a small ball that I tuck under the seat. I keep the second one near the back door and put it on when I go out in the car or in the back yard. It is a very neat jacket and I highly recommend one to everyone.
Cheers!
