Owner's Manual I never thought to check there not that I really want to change the interval, I'm just puzzled why the OIL CHANGE light didnt come on until after the oil was changed - it was a little over 3k miles

The Oil Change light is triggered by the odometer, not by any kind of oil sensor; so regardless of when or how often you change your oil, it will come on every time it reaches the preset interval.

Re: OIL LIGHT ON

I figured out how to change the interval:
viewtopic.php?f=47&t=32294

The directions in the owner's manual (p. 3-13) are correct but incomplete.

You must start with the odo/trip meter set to ODOMETER, not Trip A or Trip B, kickstand up, kill switch in the run position, ignition on (does not have to be running). After that, the directions work as advertised.

1. Press and hold the ADJ button until INTERVAL display is blinking.
2. Push SEL to decrease (goes from 3600 miles to 300 miles in 300 mile steps).
3. Push ADJ to increase.
4. Press and hold SEL and ADJ till the INTERVAL display goes away.[/quote]

Note: This is for the AN400K7/K8

I understand that and I havent changed anything - so I was puzzled why it didnt come on at the 'scheduled' interval like it did the first 2 intervals. At the 7500 m interval it came on sometime after 8000??

Ah, I misunderstood the question.

Well, it could be that the last time the dealer serviced the bike, someone changed the interval while trying to reset the Change Oil light.

That's just a guess, of course.

That all sounds right except for the "kickstand up" part.

One should be able to make all adjustments with the side stand down, like it would be when being worked on in the garage.

I'll have to look into that.

Re: OIL LIGHT ON

If the kickstand is up, you'll get "CHEC" in the display and can't do the button pushing to reset it.

Plus, oil change instructions call for the bike to be on the centerstand.
