Marking the Oil Sight Glass Location

As a new owner of a 2008 Suzuki Burgman I ran into the problem of locating the Oil Sight Glass on the lower left side of the motorcycle.

So I created a simple solution and took photo's during the process.

As seen in the above photo I have used painter's tape to give it a better look afterward. For the type of surface on the Burgman use the Blue 3-M Painter Tape. The color choice is really up to you but should be "loud" enough to catch you eye quickly if having to check the fluid level's at night. The actual color is a Chrysler paint for bright red.

The above is a close-up of the sight glass. As description given in the owner's manual suggests or shows one should be able to easily see it; however that is not true as there is a lower plastic assyembly in the way.

As one can see, the completed high-light of the oil sight glass area is easy to do and might even save time and effort on a bad weather day or the dark of night when you have minimal light to work with.

Take care.

A white led pod would also be good to add to that location behind the plastic to illuminate the glass as well

Re: Marking the Oil Sight Glass Location

That would be something I will explore later. There should be a better way to view it at night.

+1 ---- I bought one of those from Harbor Freight. It is small, bulbs last forever and with the help of the energizer bunny batteries; it just goes and goes and goes. Price less than $5 when on sale. Light for the darkness, PRICELESS.

I have a 2014 AN650 and have not been able to locate the sight glass. Do I have to remove some paneling somewhere? Most of the stuff I have read says you can just kneel down on the left side and see it. Not for this kid

Repeated post. Please limit a question to one thread and not open up two or more 8-9 year old topics.

Ok you have a side stand on the left. Right behind that is a molded in hole in the plastic you will see the sight glass.

You obviously have a sight problem if you can not see this round glass on the bottom of the left side tucked behind the side kick stand when it is in the up position.

You need to read your owner's manual and go to to page 6-20 of your user manual under ENGINE OIL LEVEL CHECK, the illustration of the sight glass is extremely clear.
