MM is appearing to have a medical meltdown so.......

Australian... you'll need the ambulance at dawn ( sparrows fart ) mate you are being such a galah ( silly fool based on galah parrot antics)

..ignore the Brits and their doubtful ( bodgy) use of language. ( Australians like to chop things off ...registration is "rego" etc.

http://www.koalanet.com.au/australian-slang.html

much laughter and I still get caught out with a blank look after being here part time each year and 2-3 hours online with partner every day for 6 years.

In Canada chips are usually potato chips which are crisps in Australia while in Australia chips are what we call french fries in Canada ( ala fish and chips which seems to work anywhere )

The worst for me is dodging beetroot on their burgers....ugh....I am forever trying to chase down a good burger ...did okay with this one once I warned them off the beetroot.....I don't mind the fried egg that is prevalent....mayonnaise is aioli here which they like to slather on as well, onion jam too but mustard is rare and ketchup, catsup is tomato sauce.

They kill themselves laughing at the milk we buy in bags in Ontario meanwhile I kill myself laughing every time I go by a Golden Casket which is not a coffin store but rather a convenience store.....( casket or coffin in Canada ....casket is a treasure chest in Australia so Golden Casket a lottery ticket outlet )

There are lots of little ones that trip me .....arvo is afternoon. Crackatinnie on the camper is open a can of beer...if I ask for a cookie they look blank ( it's biscuit ) but crackers are bickies....so cheese and crackers are cheese and bickies....

It's truly astonishing the flow between Australia and Canada of young people due to easy temporary immigration in both countries.

Getting into Canada is cheap and easy to apply for for permanent resident ...$525.....for Australia ....$11k !!! just to apply with no guarantee. But under 32 I think both countries have youth job programs ....for instance in Canada the Australians have to work outside the major resorts like Banff etc.

Our housemate is in Vancouver at the moment working and my best friend in Canada...his two daughters are in Australia working.

I'm actually hoping the move afoot to make living. working etc completely transparent without visas or permits between Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK gets passed...especially with Brexit.

my eyes are beginning to water and my brain to itch! but here I go again, I gotta stop reading books written by people knighted for their literary efforts, is there a negative connotation to "reaver" and what would a tablet be if a father told a son to go tell his mum to give him a tablet cause he (the son) likes that is there a misty isle with a cave full of gold (legend) or do I have a butt full of smoke ? and lastly is terry pratchett still alive?

Reading these posts reminded me of the first time my English neighbor saw my new 77 Triumph. His "Well, throw up your bonnet and let's have a looksee" had me completely lost. (open the hood I want to see the engine.) Each area here in the USA has its own dialect or words that are sometimes mysteries to other areas. Some have pop, some soda. We have current or power in this area instead of electricity. A couple terms we use in my area, but not everywhere, are red up or rid up to mean tidy up, and Ditz (as in Ditz unna boar) which is either something that doesn't make sense or someone that is foolish or does something foolish.
