As anyone should.

I did a 15,000 mile trip on a (heavily loaded) Honda Reflex 250, which is only a little bigger than a 200, and on more stressing terrain. It didn't have any issues with its drive system, at all.

NO WAY should ANY bike have the issues the OP had on his trip, after only a few thousand miles. That's crazy.

The Burgman 200 is not exactly an inexpensive motorcycle and it seems from your speeds you still have a cushion. Was it broken in and service properly and were your fluids always kept topped off? Were you loaded down so that you were actually over the max weight which them might have presented the problem you speak of? Otherwise it seems a mystery and I would want to know more before ever owning one.

The pic of the variator is the original variator. .012 gap. The second variator is half that. I did take the retaining ring off the second one. Its the ring that hold the roller plate in on the back of the fixed drive. I did notice on the first one there was some wear on the plate, not allowing it to open all the way. maybe this was pinching the belt more at highway speeds and causing more wear. clutch drive plate, I don't know what it looks like stock but there it is.

Wife and I got caught in 1 and a half hour of grid lock crawl over the weekend and I got the dreaded "glazed clutch bell" from it. So I pull the bell off to clean and sand the shoe pads and inside of the bell and while I was in there I checked the variator. No strange wear, and Im now at 7500 miles. Now this is worth noting=everything is normal until I get above 65 MPH, and then its at 8500 rpm's at 70 MPH. 9000 rpm's at 75 MPH. 9500 rpm's at 80 MPH. Basically, got an extra 500 rpm's added as a unwanted "bonus" after I get above 65 MPH. Belt is still well within spec. No strange markings on variator or torque driver. Only thing thats strange is the clutch bell is starting to blue from heat really bad. Clutch itself looks normal and the clutch pads also measure within spec. Did not check the rollers yet, it was starting to rain. Oh, and still the same bonus rpm's after the cleaning/sanding session. Do need a back tire, mine is wore out. Luckily a friend gave me a Michelin Pure Power for FREE!
