Question about scooter fashion...

Hi folks,

Very happy with my Burgman 400. Got it a year ago, and am so enjoying it...

I need to get a new face shield for my Shoei Qwest. Borrowed a friend's. He has a Spectra Chrome shield on his, and I was really impressed with it. No glare, and my eyes seemed to easily adjust to road and weather conditions. Even tried it at night, and it was surprisingly good. Ordinarily, I wouldn't hesitate to order one (in gold, to look cool with my Quest).

My question is: how much of a wanker (to use my British friend's expression) would I look, tooling down the road in my Burgman 400 wearing such a beast? Not trying to look cool - at my age, it's an impossibility - but also not trying to look ridiculous. Would I?

Thanks in advance.

I think you'll be starting a fashion trend. Pretty soon all the hipsters on their ruckus' will be wearing gold helmets with gold faceplates. Look at what happened to fedoras- it used to be only geriatrics wore fedoras, and now every hipster has to have one.

we ride the burgman we dont care what people think
if the Spectra Chrome shield works for you than use it
but perhaps keep the clear visor in the trunk to change out at night
just ride your ride

I have a 3 foot long 5 inch wide red ribbon on the back of my Burgman 650 that says in big bold letters "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT".
No Self respecting scooter rider should ever care what anyone else thinks. Or even if they do.

Nothing at all wrong with the Spectra Shield in Gold.....
Mine is on my RF1100 and I also have the silver one on a Black Qwest.

I would caution against riding at night with it. It DOES cut down on transmitted light so great for daytime, but at night I have a clear shield and always stop and change it around dusk. Shoeis' shield change is so quick and easy IMHO you'd be silly not to change and ride safe.

Oh, and like others, I don't give a rat's arse what people think. I dress to keep ME warm and safe, not to please whatever fashion sense they wish to try and impose.

Steve

I wear a Schubert C3 Pro with SRC, custom fitted Aerostich R3-Light, Daytona Rosdstar boots and Diamond Gusset Defender jeans. If you do the math on that, you will find it is a chunk of change in gear. However, it's not about fashion or style. It's about protection, comfort, utility and personal preference.

Do what you want. Piss off to anyone who disagrees with your choices.
