Can A Bergman 650 take a long road trip ?

Hi, I want all to know that the 2007 Bergman 650 can complete a 11. 762 Km or 7, 309 mile road trip with gas and one oil change. I drove from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Phoenix, Arizona, to San Antonio Texas, back to Phoenix, Arizona to Las Vegas Navada, to Reno Navada, to Portland Oregon, to Seattle Washington, to Vancouver British Columbia, to Calgary Alberta. This trip had 13 ride days and 8 rest days and man and machine performed wonderful. So don't be afraid to take your Bergman on a long road trip....Bill

Canuk - what type of roads? Interstates or highways? What kind of gas mileage did you get? What was your average range on a tank of gas?

Any mods to the seat or comfort of the bike?

What kind of luggage did you take? Did you stay at motels or camp?

Anyway, goodonya for making the long trip. Hope to do the same someday!

Canuk,

Sounds like you had quite a trip. For your 13 ride days, that's an average of ove 560 miles a day - that's quite impressing.

If my old 400 could handle 4,000 and 5,000+ mile trips w/o an oil change, I know your 650 did it with more comfort and ease.

Iím not afraid to go fast Ė itís the crashing and burning that scares me.

Actually, I'm too cheap to go too fast. Have you seen the price of gas lately?

It's SO time for another long road trip!!! - like THAT'S ever going to happen now.

Bill, you should have given a shout out for members to meet up. I'd have bought ya lunch. I did about that same route back in 07 but started in the Seattle area and went to Montana turned right, went to New Mexico turned right, over to Arizona turned right, up to Las Vagas Nevada turned slight left, Northern California, Oregon and then home. All in 6 days. Just over 2500 miles.

While in the Arizona area I went to the Grand Canyon park and watched the I-Max film and got vertago so bad I could not ride for hours. I was one sick puppy.

Re: Can A Bergman 650 take a long road trip ?

Burgmans can make as long a trip as you have the physical endurance to tolerate/enjoy it. I went 500 miles round trip to the Mid-Atlantic Scooter Rally. I was sore with my back and legs for a couple of days after coming back. I am not sure if it is because I am old (67) or because I need a bike with a better suspension. My wife (64) tolerated it well without a pain anywhere. (we rode 2 UP) I think it's about the "natural" padding the girls have over us guys. What y'all think?

I thought I was tough going 2300 and some miles last summer. An Air Hawk seat pad makes a big difference. Were the tires new when you started?
