I would vote for Alpine Texas but it would need to be in Spring or Fall as it can get cold there in the winter.

Alpine is probably on many riders' bucket lists (mine included), but waaay too far for the majority of Texans on this board, except the El Paso ones and some southern New Mexico riders. Funny how you read the posts here and on the other threads about a national Burg rally and it seems like some, but not all want the gathering to come to them and be in their neck of the woods. To me that says something. Start out small and local in each area of the state. Baby steps, always remembering the lessons we've heard from those who've worn themselves out organizing stuff too big in the past. Many of us would love to see a Burgman "Sturgis", but would probably not find the reality as palatable.

Alpine is nice. It makes a good base camp for day rides both to Big Bend and the Davis Mountains. Three of us road our Burgmans down there and spent a week riding the area. But as BurgyBill pointed out it is one long ride from DFW. We took 2 days just to get there because doing it in one day was more than we wanted to bite off.

Maybe now that the weather is getting nicer, this issue should be revisited, if only even for a local meet, greet and daylong ride. I can say that for as much as I'm kicking around the idea of taking time out to attend Scooting the Ozarks this year, a trip to someplace like the Three Sisters which is just as far might be better for promoting local Texas Burgman riders. Although truth be told I'm not sure I know of any other towns around there with the same level of ambiance that Eureka Springs has...

I'm in the Austin area and would be up for a rally if one is finally organized.

Heading to the islands...

April is usually an extremely windy month in the West, is it the same across Texas?

April is usually pretty windy around the DFW area.

Kwajman, Are we the only Burgman riders in the area? There have been several Burgies for sale between SA and Austin, where are the riders?

Understood. So maybe not a ride, but perhaps a meet & greet at a restaurant like you stated the Two Wheeled Texans do on their "pie runs". Pick a decent sized place and we all meet up there. We were at the Cycle Gear bike night in Bedford on Friday and that would have been a great place to meet up, too.
