Where do you keep your cell phone?

I used to keep my cell phone either in my purse in the trunk or in the locked glove compartment. A few weeks ago I had a very minor spill on my front lawn, and ended with my foot pinned under my scoot (no injuries, no damage.) I was lucky that my husband was home at the time and immediately moved the scoot so I could get up, because I was in a very awkward position and couldn't budge.

From that point on, I started carrying my cell phone right in my jacket pocket. If this mishap had occurred elsewhere, I wouldn't have been able to get to my phone to call for help.

Ride safely.

Patti that's a really good tip! I never gave the cell locaiton much thought before. Glad you were not hurt. Did those nasty Santa Anas blow your bike over?

No nasty Santa Ana's - just a nasty patch of soft dirt covered by grass! I was in a hurry that day and not paying attention.

I have a wee pocket (zipped) that seems purpose built in my riding jacket - so I keep it there!

I've got a leather cell phone holder that will fit either on my belt or on the waist adjustment strap of my riding pants.

I have a hip bag that I wear and I keep mine in there. Haven't looked at my jacket to see if it will fit in the pocket or not. I will this weekend. Better than being locked in the trunk I guess in the bottomless pit I call my purse.

In your pocket, never on your scooter.

It's terrible to even think about, but in an emergency, there are circumstances/events which could separate you from your scooter.

Reminds me of an article I read about a guy who'd toured all over the world on his motorcyle. He was asked to make up a list of all the necessary equipment needed to make an around the world tour on two wheels. His list consisted of the following:

1. A cell phone.
2. A credit card.

I carry my cell phone in the underseat trunk. I always thought of it as an aid if I broke down on the road, rather than a tool to request help after a crash.

Good thread. I'll have to re-think this. Of course, with my luck, in a crash I'd land on my cell phone and smash it.
