I can't speak for how good these are, but if you do your research, there are a lot of options out there. You can read the reviews and listen to the comments, then make your choices.

I would also like to hear more comments first hand from more of our members.

And of course, the Sena is hard to beat, but costs more:

Hello Husayn,

I've investigated same question recently, but I'm using my intercom mostly in rider-passenger mode and Music / GPS. Rider-rider mode is another story, but I believe it's better to go with trusty manufacture. Lots of guys in Russia go with cheaper units from Aliexpress to save some $$$, but it's a fortune, many times those units are broken out of the box. From what I figured from reviews from webbikeworld, UClear units looks very interesting. Kill feature of this unit is boomless mic (mic is built-in in speaker) and voice command / firmware updates and good price for quality. Another good option is SENA SMH series. I don't suggest to go with 10S series as they are good at rider-passenger, but quickly lost signal in rider-rider mode.

Also both Sena and UClear models with latest software upgrades will pair with units from other manufactures, but usually units of same manufacture wil work little bit better. So you better ask your friend what he is using now and think about going with same manufacture. If you're both don't have intercoms and going to buy together, think about buying dual pack of any choosen intercom, this will save some $$$.

I will go with Sena 20S next month because of ton of features, but this is pricy choise, starting from 250$ from single unit. Also I believe that once Sena will start sell just anounced 30K unit, prices on older models should drop, so check out Amazon for discounts.

We decided to buy a dual pack sena, and we want FM functionality to be one of the options included. The sena SMH5-FM is fitting all our needs but it lag the ability of adding another device to the group, it only support two devices for intercom. Then i found the 10s which also has an FM radio and it has lots of features over the smh5 but the price is 370$ for the dual pack while the smh5-fm is 224$.
I will see the reviews of the these two devices and see which one we will pick eventually.
The Uclear intercoms did not impress me because they are not cheaper than the sena and does not provide more options over the sena though.

I saw these being discussed on another motorcycle forum. I looked up reviews on these and overall they got favorable reviews considering the low costs. They are not Sena quality but then again they're a lot less than any of the Senas.
I personally use UClear - no boom mic to deal with and great wind noise reduction.

The youtube video listed on the site is pretty darn good, for 28.00 each! This guy also seems to think these will sync to the sena and could be purchased for extra helmets for family. Hmmm... I recently bought a used Sena that I haven't tried yet. Makes me think....
