Fuel Cap

Has anyone replaced the fuel cap with a non locking model? My wife has a tough time replacing the cap after fueling her 650. Hoping there is some sort of replacement cap

I think that is is easy enough to do. Why don't you just teach her how to do it? Just hold the cap, turn the key until the grip lugs retract, then push the cap on in place with the little arrow pointing outward, then turn the key back to the original position, then withdraw the key. Not hard with a little practice.
Cheers!

She is slowly getting used to it. But, I don't like having to use a key for the fuel cap. Don't like it on my FJR1300 also.

Skunkhome - I think the fuel cap on the 400 is the same.

If that is the case all you need the key for is to remove the cap. After it is open I pull the key and stick it back in the ignition.
Reinstalling does not require the key and screws down just as if it were a non- locking cap.
In my opinion the key serves only to get in the way at that point.

I have collected gas caps over the years- left lying on gas service station gas pumps.

The AN400 cap is the same as on my 97 Saturn- a screw-in kind, seems to be universal. I don't know about the 650 though. I would guess it's the same. I don't use a locking cap on my AN400, most people probably couldn't figure out where the gas cap is anyway.

I have little problem reinstalling my Burgman 650 gas cap. However, my new Burgman 200 is another story, frustrating! No doubt one reason is the awkward location of the fuel cap.

The gas cap on the 650 is different from the one on the 400. It does not screw in, it clips in with two locking lugs. I don't know of any none locking replacements for the 650 gas cap.

Well that certainly explains the issue. Wonder why they would have different type caps. Makes no sense logistically.

Bummer. I have one from a Honda Civic on my 400 and couldn't be any happier.
