Side racks for 2006 Suzuki 650 exec abs.

Hi there everybody, new to the forum, just got a 06 650 buggy exec with abs...have been reading about these for the last 5 years and have finally got one..I have read a lot of post's about side case racks and Kiwi Dave was mentioned a lot..Got in touch with Dave and he said he does not make or sell the side case racks any more..He did mention that a company in a Russian state copied his design and was making and selling them. The Givi racks wont fit a 2006 model so i was wondering if anybody has a lead on Kiwi Dave style racks either here in the USA or overseas..Any info would be greatly appreciated...Irish59.

I found a used pair on a facebook group a few months ago, but these are still available on ebay.

I though I had replied to this one the other day but I can not fine my response, so here it is.

I bought my 2003 and it had some owner made racks for GIVI's side and top boxes. I can run any of the Monokey boxes on all positions. I could measure the steel and take better pictures if you want to copy these. VERY SOLID.

$135? Kinda pricey for me. Is that I good deal on those?

And Irish59, you said you just got a 2006 Burgman 650. So please review this topic for the 2006 model year. Seems its just a 2006 issue.

2006 Primary Adapter Bolt issue.

E.D. that is a fair price IF you need a set.

A used set of the same ones for a BID of $70 and $15 shipping. Who knows how high the bid will go in 4 days. Zero bids so far.

That rack set from Slovenia, the ones that @Dave_J pointed out (post #6) on eBay -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Suzuki-B...-/291366441488 -- seem reasonably priced to me (US$135 + US$25 shipping).

However, I wouldn't buy them, because -- someone correct me, if I'm wrong -- it looks to me as if the bottom of the brackets are held in place by a bolt or some type of fastener that connects only to the bottom part of the plastic on the side of the bike. I realize that the top bolts, the ones that connect to the passenger grab handles (which handles are robust) are carrying the weight of the brackets and cases, but I'd worry that the flexing and general movement while riding would crack that stock bottom-area tupperware.

Compare and contrast to the racks that came with @Dave_J 's bike (post #3). They have a metal cross-member at the back, which connects the two racks. This seems like a MUCH better solution to me.

But that's me. YMMV, always wear protective gear, closed course, professional rider.

Regards,

Bill P.

Bill, Arnie (Aslof) had those on his 650 for his New Jersey/California/Washington/New Jersey trip, and when we were leaving after he spent a few days with us here, he slow speed laid his Fully loaded 650 over on the left side in my driveway and it did crack his tupperware a bit down at the left side reflector.

I have bumped my bikes rack frame with my knee. The knee came out for the worst as the rack did not move. The first owner was a retired engineer for Boeing and he did a few other things for comfort on a few bikes.
