Suzuki Super Grease "A"

Does anyone know what kind of grease this is (lithium, silicone, molybdenum, something else)?

Arnold - good question. I was going to blow it off until I looked in the '06 tech manual and found that you are absolutely correct in that there are no specs for the grease. And other forums for Suzuki products have noted this.

Background - Usually (as in my Jeep Tech Man) the specs are called out as in meeting NGLI (National Lubricating Grease Institute) standards. The "G" standard is for wheel bearings. The "L" standard is for chassis lubrication. The "G" and "L" are then folowed by a 2nd letter indicating quality. "GC" and "LB" are the highest quality as of now. There are greases sold that are "multi funtional" and have a NLGI "GC-LB" designation.

Recommendation - That being said, I usually buy the "GC-LB" grease in synthetic formulation and load it into the grease gun for any an all applications. So far it has worked for me.

See links for commonly available products:

Valvoline has several other greases and one link

that may clarify or just confuse. Bottom line is if you are using a multi purpose top of the line synthetic grease you are going to be OK. The demands (bearings, chassis lube, etc.) on the grease by a Burgman are not going to be any different than a car unless you are doing some really really serious racing with red hot brake discs... but by that time IMHO you would be having far more serious problems with the bike than whether the grease in the bearings was holding up.

My guess is that if you go to the dealer and look at the grease packaging it will say something with NGLI on it but I could be wrong.

I live South of Baltimore and East of DC, near the capitol of Maryland, Annapolis. That being said, the area has a lot going for it. As in any urban area there are places that you definitely would not want to be walking in at midnight. But overall, I really like the area, and that is after 20 yrs in California (LA, San Diego, Monterey, Bay Area.)

PS congrats on your soin's achievements. I know that that represents a lot of time and effort on parents as well as his part.
