Guidelines for DIY Contributors
Under Construction...- This is not a place for discussion. Please reserve conversations for the forums.
- Every effort should be made to enter correct information the first time. This website is only useful when the information is reliable.
- Please use correct spelling and punctuation. The articles contained on this website are not the sole property of any one contributor. Since it is a group effort, making corrections requires the time of another contributor.
- Take a neutral point of view. There is room for differing opinions as long as they are mainstream and presented objectively. -Example: Some advocate the use of torque wrenches, some believe that are not necessary. If you happen to disagree with torque wrenches, it's not your place to remove the torque values from an article. Instead, include a footnote stating that fasteners can be tightened if done properly and carefully, etc.
- Articles should be written for a very broad audience, especially newbies and those not in the USA. Although all possible scenarios do not have to be accounted for, users that are completely unfamiliar with the Burgmans, scooters, motorcycles, internal combustion engines, etc., should be considered.
- Cite sources when possible, the more credible the better. For example, provide page numbers for the service manual, or a post on the forums that provides the information you are adding. Information that is controversial, obscure or out of the mainstream are especially important to cite their sources. Please note that most (scanned) reproductions of the Suzuki Service Manual are illegal, and should not be linked directly through any of the Burgman USA webpages.
- Pictures are always useful, and should be considered critical for all but mundane tasks.
- Vandalism will not be tolerated. A history of all revisions are saved and will be reverted to quickly.
- Due to having the same topics for multiple models (i.e. CVT for both 400s and 650), each article or topic category must have the appropriate model as a prefix.
400 CVT
400 (07+) CVT
650 CVT
